Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with a wide range of internal medicine conditions, including:
- Infectious diseases
- Diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders
- Rheumatologic and autoimmune diseases
- Gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses
- Handle medical emergencies and acute care in emergency, ICU, and wards.
- Manage inpatients, including admission, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Provide consultation services to other departments (surgical, gynecology, etc.).
- Participate in health screening programs and preventive care initiatives.
2. Outpatient & Inpatient Care
- Attend to OPD patients during scheduled clinics.
- Perform daily rounds in general wards and high-dependency units (HDU/ICU).
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care where required.
- Document all clinical interactions, prescriptions, and progress notes accurately.
3. Procedures
- Perform and assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as:
- Lumbar puncture, pleural/ascitic tap, central line insertion
- ECG interpretation, ABG analysis, and basic ultrasonography (where applicable)
4. Academic & Research (For Teaching Hospitals)
- Attend and contribute to academic sessions seminars, journal clubs, CMEs.
- Participate in teaching medical students, interns, and junior residents.
- Engage in clinical audits, morbidity/mortality meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Involve in ongoing or new clinical research projects, if interested.
5. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure adherence to institutional clinical guidelines, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
- Maintain all required documentation including patient case sheets, discharge summaries, and medico-legal reports.
- Follow ethical medical practices and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications & Experience:
For Senior Resident:
- MD / DNB in Internal Medicine from a recognized university.
- Registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI)/NMC or relevant State Medical Council.
- 03 years of post-PG clinical experience.
For Attending Consultant:
- MD / DNB in Internal Medicine with 35+ years of post-PG experience.
- Fellowship in critical care, diabetes, infectious disease, or any relevant subspecialty is an added advantage.
