Role Description

The Senior Research Fellow/Project Associate - ML/AI Engineer - Livestock AI will contribute to the development of AI models and solutions tailored for livestock health and dairy sustainability. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing machine learning algorithms, data analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop advanced AI solutions. The role also involves conducting research, coding, and deploying AI-powered systems to improve farm productivity and animal welfare. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
• Data analysis, data preprocessing, and experience working with large datasets.
• Programming skills in Python or similar languages, with experience in machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Proficiency in research, algorithm design, and applied AI in addressing real-world challenges.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
• Architect and lead ML development for disease modelling / forecasting & risk scoring, including robust validation strategies.
• Build and govern data pipelines with partner institutions; ensure dataset documentation and quality controls.
• Collaborate with the system team to integrate ML outputs into the AI controlled treatment platform and real-time monitoring tools.
• Contribute to project milestones, quarterly reporting expectations, and deliverables tied to software / AI system outcomes.

• PhD ( submitted / ongoing / completed ) in AI / DS / CSE / ECE / EEE / Biomedical or allied discipline AND relevant hands-on on experience in applied ML ( research or product ).
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of research experience in R&D projects.
• Timeseries modelling, series modelling, weak / label / noisy label learning, imbalanced data approaches.
• Explainability tooling ( e.g., SHAP / LIME ) and model governance.
• Realtime analytics or edge /embedded ML exposure ( nice to have ).
• Prior work with healthcare / biomedical / veterinary datasets ( nice to have ).

Qualify through following national level exams:

• CSIRUGC NET
• GATE
• Equivalent exams by central government agencies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.
