Role purpose
Join our Supply Chain Market Intelligence Group (MIG) where your analysis directly impacts decisions in the global energy sector. You'll be a trusted advisor helping energy companies optimize spending, navigate market volatility, and mitigate supply chain risks.
You'll wear multiple hats - data analyst, economist, consultant, and strategic partner and support customers in multiple domains within energy sector. Working with cutting-edge SaaS platforms that deliver real-time intelligence on cost escalation, price forecasting, commodity exposure, benchmarking, and supply chain risks.
You'll specialize in price forecasting, should cost modeling, cost analysis, and benchmarking for oil & gas operations and power industry, critical areas where your expertise drives measurable results. Working with product development, research, consulting, sales, and customer success teams, you'll build a powerful network while transforming complex market data into actionable insights that shape strategy for industry leaders.
Main Responsibilities
- Client Expert & Advisor: Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted authority on Wood Mackenzie supply chain products, delivering market intelligence insights to global oil and gas customers. Advise clients on supply chain and procurement strategies, translating market data into insights that support commercial and investment decisionmaking.
- Research & Forecasting: Leverage proprietary data and primary research to develop price forecasts, should cost models, unit benchmarks and strategic recommendations for critical spend categories.
- Insight Delivery: Deliver actionable insights through Wood Mackenzie's SaaS platforms, reports, and client engagements, combining rigorous quantitative analysis with clear, concise market commentary that informs executivelevel decisions.
- Data Innovation: Extract, analyze, and qualityassure large datasets (e.g., project spend data, market indices, benchmarks). Continuously improve methodologies for data enrichment, analytics, and visualization to enhance the depth and usability of market intelligence.
- Sales & Go-to-Market Support: Create compelling marketing collateral, contribute to proposal development, and deliver product demonstrations that showcase market insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Thrive in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment working across product, research, consulting, and commercial teams.
We are looking for candidates with
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry, with deep knowledge of upstream operations and industry fundamentals. Prior commercial, sales, or clientfacing experience is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of oil & gas macroeconomic and industry trends, including E&P activity levels, upstream CAPEX cycles, investment patterns, and demand - supply dynamics impacting pricing of oilfield equipment and services.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, statistical, energy, engineering, or related field
- Exceptional analytical skills: Proven ability to manage and analyze large datasets, identify trends and discrepancies, and deliver precise, actionable insights
- Excellent communication: Confident presenting to clients from day one, translating complex analysis into clear recommendations for both technical and executive audiences
- Problem-solving skills: Thrives in multi-faceted roles requiring agility, strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly to client needs
Desirable Skills
- Oil and Gas operations: Upstream oil & gas operations knowledge across the full project lifecycle, including drilling, subsea, pipelines, facilities, and production operations, with a strong understanding of project costing and key cost drivers.
- Comfortable operating as a crossdomain generalist, with the ability to analyze and connect market, cost, and supply chain dynamics across oil & gas, power, and renewable energy markets.
- AI/automation proficiency: Experience using LLMs and related tools to streamline workflows and automate routine tasks
- Strong skills in Ms Excel
- Python, R, or other coding and data science skills
