We seek a dynamic and motivated
Senior Analyst to join the Global Power Market Analytics and Research team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the team and driving the research and modelling deliverables for the Asian markets focused mainly on South Asian countries, while supporting the wider APAC power and renewables team.
As a Senior Research Analyst in our Power & Renewables team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering actionable insights on policy developments, market trends, and investment dynamics across global power markets. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with our modelling groups to enhance and refine our models and data, laying the groundwork. This position combines deep analytical work with client engagement, offering opportunities to influence strategic decisions in the energy transition. The role will involve staying informed on key market trends and incorporating the latest ideas into our power modelling and research reports.
Key Responsibilities
Market & policy analysis: Track and interpret regulatory changes, policy frameworks, and investment signals impacting power markets. Assess implications of these changes on generation mix, pricing, and system operations.
Research & forecasting: Develop and refine technology outlooks and power price forecasts using regional power models. Incorporate emerging trends such as battery storage, curtailment, and grid flexibility into modelling workflows. Ensure forecasts are robust, bankable, and aligned with industry best practices.
Modelling & data enhancement: Collaborate with global research groups to improve modelling methodologies and data quality. Support the development of advanced analytical tools tailored for transaction and valuation support. Manage data workflows, conduct in-depth analysis, and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
Client engagement: Build and maintain relationships with clients and industry stakeholders. Deliver insights through presentations, reports, and bespoke advisory projects. Respond to client queries with clear, data-driven analysis.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work with various teams within the organisation to ensure smooth delivery of services and seamless integration of market research, data analytics, and commercial expertise into the transaction advisory process.
Requirements

Qualification/Experience
- Work experience of 8+ years with any - developer, consultancy/ equity research, private equity, financial institutions, or another market/investment-focused organization
- Exceptional analytical/quantitative skills, including experience in modelling (Plexos, Aurora or any other platform) or commercial analysis in power markets.
- Experience with writing research papers and client presentations
- Comfortable working with large datasets, databases, and APIs, and familiar with tools like Python, SQL, and Power Query to handle and analyse data
- Experience in optimization models is an advantage, as is experience of modelling or commercial analysis in power markets
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge and experience in power and renewables markets, with a particular understanding of power plant technologies, operations, and economics.
- Understanding of market trends, regulatory issues, and key drivers in power sector
