We are seeking an experienced Senior R&D Mechanical Design Engineer to lead end-to-end research & development, advanced mechanical design, prototyping, validation and cross-functional execution for compressor technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute end-to-end R&D projects for compressor components and systems, from concept through to handover for production.
- Develop advanced mechanical designs using CAD (3D modelling and detailed drawings) and apply engineering best practice for manufacturability, serviceability and cost.
- Drive rapid prototyping activities, select appropriate materials and processes, and oversee prototype build and assembly.
- Plan and execute validation programmes (mechanical, thermal, vibration, endurance) including test specification, test rig design and data analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, controls, manufacturing, quality, procurement) to ensure alignment of requirements and timely execution.
- Apply DFMEA, tolerance analysis and design verification methods to mitigate technical risk and ensure product reliability.
- Prepare technical documentation, design reports, BOMs and release packages for transfer to production.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of R&D processes and tools.
- Manage project schedules, supplier activities and budgets to meet programme milestones.
- Follow Quality, Environment, Health & Safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design and R&D, preferably with compressor, refrigeration, HVAC or rotating machinery technologies.
- Strong understanding of R&D product development methodologies.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and technical drawing standards.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, GD&T, and engineering design principles.
Ability to interpret laboratory test results and correlate them to design decisions.
- Experience with rotating machinery, compressors, mechanical assemblies, or electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with CAE tools, prototype validation, and supplier development.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems and prototype lifecycle management.
