About the role

Champion quality across every layer of the stack.

At Smart Working, we're looking for a Quality Engineer who will embed quality into everything we build from APIs to databases to UI automation. This is a hands-on role where you'll partner with programmers, advocate for the user, and drive a quality-first mindset across the team. If you think like an engineer, not just a tester, this role is for you.

• Embed quality practices across the team, ensuring quality is owned, discussed, and baked into every stage of delivery
• Automate and integrate testing at the API, database, and UI levels (Cypress)
• Pair with developers on coding and testing, advocating for shift-left and shift-right approaches
• Think like a user — exploring edge cases, anticipating risks, and representing the customer perspective
• Contribute to continuous improvement, driving an automation-first approach and eliminating repetitive manual work
  

• 5+ years of professional experience in Quality Engineering or a similar role
• 4+ years of experience in API testing, with proven ability to design, implement, and maintain automated service-level test suites
• 4+ years of experience in UI automation with Cypress, building reliable, maintainable, and scalable automation frameworks
• Strong database and SQL skills, comfortable validating data flows and integrating database checks into test pipelines
• Clear and confident communicator, able to share findings, coach teammates, and represent quality across the team
• Proactive, collaborative mindset, skilled at glue work, pairing with programmers, and embedding quality practices throughout the lifecycle
• Exploratory testing ability, applied as a core baseline skill for all quality engineers
  

• Working knowledge of AWS
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and a DevOps mindset
  

• You'll deepen your expertise in full-stack quality engineering, working across APIs, databases, and UIs while collaborating with a global engineering team. Expect to grow your coaching skills, drive continuous improvement, and help define what quality means in a remote-first, fast-moving environment
