Job Title:Senior Engineer Quality (Machine Shop)

Experience:5 to 10 Years

Location:Lohatec Precision Pvt. Ltd, Mangalore, Karnataka, India

Role Overview

The Senior Engineer Quality will be responsible for ensuring product quality and process compliance in the machine shop. The role focuses on maintaining high manufacturing standards in CNC machining operations while driving continuous improvement in quality systems, inspection processes, and defect reduction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure product quality across machining processes
  • Perform root cause analysis for internal and customer quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Conduct process capability studies and monitor Cp/Cpk for critical machining parameters.
  • Lead in-process, final inspection, and first article inspection activities.
  • Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) for machining operations.
  • Develop and review control plans, PFMEA, and process documentation.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve process stability.
  • Support new product development activities including APQP and PPAP documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards including ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Handle customer complaints and drive structured problem-solving using methodologies such as 8D and RCA.
  • Manage calibration and gauge control systems for inspection instruments.
  • Conduct internal process audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of machining processes CNC Turning, VMC, and HMC.
  • Expertise in inspection tools including Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, and Profile Projector.
  • Hands-on experience with CMM inspection and GD&T interpretation.
  • Experience with SPC, MSA, FMEA, Control Plan, APQP, and PPAP.
  • Good knowledge of machining tolerances and precision measurement techniques.

Education

Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Preferred Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience in Aerospace, Medical, Defence & Automotive component manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices.
