Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Test Engineer with deep expertise in Playwright and a strong background in test automation. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of hands-on automation experience, be highly proficient in TypeScript or JavaScript, and demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder-handling skills
This role requires end-to-end ownership of automation, including designing and building automation frameworks from scratch, and delivering scalable solutions across Web, UI, and API testing. The candidate will also contribute to IoT-related projects, showcasing solid Python skills and a backend-focused automation mindset
Key Responsibilities
- Take full end-to-end ownership of test automation, including designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks from scratch
- Lead automation initiatives using Playwright, primarily with TypeScript (preferred) or JavaScript, ensuring robust and maintainable solutions
- Develop and execute automated test suites across Web, UI, and API layers, covering functional, integration, and regression testing
- Define automation strategies, test planning, and risk-based test coverage aligned with business and delivery goals
- Integrate automation suites seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster feedback
- Analyze automation execution results, identify failures, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate closely with developers for root-cause analysis
- Participate in requirement and design reviews to ensure testability and automation readiness from early stages
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and promote automation best practices within the team
- Act as a strong quality advocate, working closely with cross-functional and global stakeholders
- Communicate effectively with engineering, product, and management teams to ensure clarity and alignment.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 8 years of strong hands-on experience in test automation
- Expert-level proficiency in Playwright with proven real-world implementation experience
- Excellent command of TypeScript or JavaScript for automation development
- Proven experience in Web, API, and UI automation testing across complex applications
- Demonstrated ability to build automation frameworks from scratch and scale them effectively
- Strong understanding of automation design patterns, best practices, reusability, and maintainability
- Solid experience working with REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, and backend/service-level validations.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum development environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work in distributed teams
- Good-to-have / project-dependent:
- Exposure to IoT testing concepts
- Strong Python programming skills for backend or IoT-focused automations
- Experience with backend/service-level automation, device-data validation, system integrations, and protocols
