Position Overview

Job Title: Senior QA / Test Automation Engineer, AVP

Location: Pune, India

Role Description

  • The Senior QA/ Test Automation Engineer will play a critical role in receiving the Knowledge Transfer (KT) from the current engineering team, the successful transition, stabilization, and ongoing support of the Audit Confirmations platform from testing perspective. Work with Technical Team on building test cases to perform functional, regression, integration, load / stress testing, penetration testing etc.

  • The current testing is performed manually and Senior QA/ Test Automation Engineer should be able to perform manual testing and work on automating it.

Your key responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain a robust, scalable, and efficient QA strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational goals and product roadmaps, balancing the need for both manual and automated testing approaches. Oversee the entire testing lifecycle for multiple projects, from requirements analysis to deployment and post-release validation. Define and track key QA metrics and KPIs to measure effectiveness, drive continuous improvement, and communicate progress to stakeholders. Champion a Quality-First mindset across the development lifecycle, promoting best practices, early testing, and prevention over detection.

  • Test Process & Execution: Define, standardize, and optimize QA processes, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Agile/Scrum, BDD, TDD).Oversee the design, development, and execution of comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts (functional, non-functional, regression, integration etc.) and performance test scripts (load, stress, scalability, endurance).

  • Determine the appropriate balance between manual and automated testing efforts based on risk, ROI, and test type. Ensure effective defect management processes, including logging, prioritization, tracking, and root cause analysis. Manage test data requirements and strategies, ensuring data privacy, integrity, and availability for various testing needs including large-scale data sets for performance testing.

  • Automation & Tooling: Drive the adoption and expansion of test automation across all layers (UI, API, database, performance) to maximize efficiency and coverage. Oversee the design, development, and execution of comprehensive test plans, manual test cases, and automated test scripts (functional, non-functional, regression, integration, user acceptance testing (UAT), exploratory testing, etc.). Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate testing tools and technologies to enhance QA capabilities. (ALM, Selenium, Cucumber, Karate, Postman, Jmeter, BlazeMeter). Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster feedback loops.

  • Strong experience in requirements analysis for test case creation and test execution of user stories using tools like Quality Centre/ALM, Confluence , Jira ,SOAP UI, Filetransfer, SQL developer. Strong experience in development of Test Automation features using UFT (unified functional testing) and / or Selenium with Java

  • Collaboration & Communication: Act as a primary liaison between QA and other departments (Product Management, Development, DevOps, Project Management, Business Stakeholders). Communicate test strategies, progress, risks, and quality metrics clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization.

  • Collaborate with development teams to promote testability of code, shift-left testing practices, and early defect prevention. Participate in requirement reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning to ensure quality considerations are embedded from the start. Work closely with product and business teams to define and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and exploratory testing sessions.

  • Plan and implement a full set of test automation activities across a full end to end feature: create, maintain and execute automated tests.

  • Ability to identify the Test scope and come up with required functional and non-functional test cases.

  • Proficiency in documentation of required the test documents.

  • Ensuring end-to-end defect tracking and aligning with Key QA metrics

  • Manage test issues, risks management and maintain test environments.

  • Develop and extend in-house testing automation tools and test frameworks.

  • Participate with development teams in release management and process improvement

Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 12-15+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with at least [2+] years in a leadership or management role (e.g., QA Lead, QA Manager, Test Manager).

  • Proven experience in defining, implementing, and managing comprehensive QA strategies and processes, including manual, automated, BDD-driven, and performance testing methodologies.

  • Strong expertise in test automation, including designing and developing robust automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Rest Assured, JUnit, TestNG, Pytest, UFT, REST API Testing)- (preferably Java, Groovy or Kotlin plus knowledge of SQL).

  • Demonstrated experience with BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow, Behave) and collaborating on Gherkin feature files.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering.

Understanding of banking systems and processes is a huge advantage

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, executing, and analyzing performance, load, and stress tests for complex applications.

  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, k6, Gatling).

  • Demonstrated experience in manual testing techniques, including exploratory testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and comprehensive test case design.

  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#).

  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in an Agile development environment.

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).

  • Experience with various types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, performance, security, and usability testing.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database testing.

  • Open for manual testing for at least a year in parallel to identifying automation candidates.

  • Understanding software development and testing processes on GCP
