Senior QA (Test) Analyst

Overview of Role As a Senior Quality Assurance and Test Analystspecializing in Cloud Data Warehousing, you will be responsible for validating large-scale data platforms, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and performance in cloud environments such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse or Databricks. You will test ETL pipelines, data transformations, and BI tools while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality deliverables. This role requires expertise in cloud-based data systems, ETL testing, and advanced SQL-based validation techniques.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements for cloud data solutions.

Design and execute test cases for ETL workflows, data pipelines, and Cloud Data Warehouses.

Perform data validation and reconciliation testing to ensure accuracy and completeness of data across:

1. Source systems

2. ETL processes

3. Cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or Databricks).

Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate data transformations, loads, and schema integrity.

Test BI reports and dashboards to ensure data accuracy and visual correctness in tools like:

1. Tableau

2. Power BI

3. ThoughtSpot.

Use ETL Test Automation and BI Test Automation tools for repeatable testing

Conduct basic performance testing of cloud data warehouses and validate query optimization for large datasets.

Log, track, and manage defects in tools like Jira or Azure DevOps or any test management tool, ensuring timely issue resolution.

Have experience in Automating data validation processes using tools and scripting languages like Python or frameworks like dbt.

Experience testing in cloud environments (AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, etc.)

Collaborate in Agile/Scrum environments, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Act as a mentor to junior team members, sharing knowledge of cloud testing best practices. Requirements and skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

4+ years of experience in software testing with a focus on Data Warehousing and ETL Testing.

Strong expertise in any of cloud-based Data Warehouses:

1. Snowflake

2. AWS Redshift

3. Azure Synapse

4. Databricks.

Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for data validation, reconciliation, and analysis.

Hands-on experience testing ETL processes and data pipelines in cloud environments.

Experience with any of the BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and ThoughtSpot for report and dashboard validation.

Solid understanding of data modelling (star schema, snowflake schema) and dimensional data concepts.

Familiarity with defect management tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or TestRail.

Experience with test automation for data (using Python, PyTest, dbt tests, or custom frameworks) is a plus

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data quality issues.

Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Python for automated data testing and validation.

Good to have Exposure to data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or dbt.

Good to have Experience with Big Data tools like Apache Spark, Hive, or Kafka.

Performance testing experience using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.

Certification in Snowflake, AWS, Azure added advantage.

Certification in ISTQB.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines for test automation and deployment in cloud environments.
