Your role
The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and visual integrity of business reports and dashboards. This role involves close collaboration with business analysts, reporting developers, and key stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into robust test plans and validation procedures. The QA Analyst will develop and execute detailed test cases to verify data accuracy, formatting consistency, and compliance with organizational reporting standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics, reporting tools (such as Power BI or Tableau), and SQL-based data validation. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to identify and communicate reporting issues effectively. The QA Analyst will also contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and documentation to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of the reporting lifecycle.
What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand reporting
requirements and translate them into comprehensive test plans.
- Develop detailed test cases to validate the accuracy, completeness, and visual
presentation of reports, ensuring alignment with specified reporting requirements.
- Execute test cases to verify that reports meet quality standards, including data
accuracy, formatting, and adherence to established reporting standards.
- Report defects related to reporting inaccuracies, formatting discrepancies, or any
issues affecting the visual representation of reports, providing clear and concise
details.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure that changes to data sources, reporting tools, or report templates do not negatively impact existing reporting functionality.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test scripts for
reporting validation, enhancing testing efficiency and accuracy.
- Work closely with reporting developers, data analysts, and business stakeholders
to understand report structures, data sources, and reporting tool functionalities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test results, and reporting validation processes, ensuring a clear record of reporting quality assurance activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting quality assurance processes, contributing to the enhancement of reporting accuracy and user experience.
- Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, including reporting developers and business stakeholders, to provide updates on testing progress, reporting issues, and overall quality status.
- Identify opportunities of improvement in development lifecycle to prevent data issues at the origin.
- Learn and share best practices with team members.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, information technology, engineering or related field
- 2-5 years experience in reporting, data analytics and QA function
- Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL or relevant query languages for data validation and analysis within reporting environments.
- Strong analytical skills to identify, report, and troubleshoot issues related to reporting accuracy and visual presentation.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate validation of reporting elements, including data, charts, and graphs.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey testing information and collaborate with reporting teams and business stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing reporting requirements, priorities, and project timelines.
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional reporting teams.
- Critical thinking skills to evaluate complex report structures and identify potential areas of improvement.
- Relevant certifications in reporting tools or business intelligence may be beneficial (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power BI).
