Roles and Responsibilities

Mindstix is looking for a highly skilled Senior API Automation Engineer with 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and automation testing. The ideal candidate should have extensive hands-on experience in API automation using Karate Framework, JavaScript, and BDD (Gherkin).

The individual will be responsible for designing scalable automation frameworks, automating REST APIs, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional Agile teams to ensure product quality.

  • Design, develop, and maintain API automation test suites using Karate Framework.
  • Develop reusable automation components and utilities using JavaScript.
  • Write clear and maintainable BDD feature files using Gherkin syntax.
  • Automate RESTful APIs and validate request/response payloads, headers, authentication, and business rules.
  • Perform API contract validation, schema validation, and data-driven testing.
  • Integrate automation suites with Jenkins, Gitlab,Jenkins Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Execute regression, smoke, and integration test suites.
  • Analyze API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI) and derive comprehensive automation scenarios.
  • Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and QA teams during sprint planning and execution.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure automation coding standards are followed.
  • Debug failures, identify root causes, and provide quality recommendations.
  • Contribute to framework enhancements, reporting, logging, and reusable utilities.
  • Track and report automation execution metrics using Allure Reports or equivalent reporting tools.
  • Support shift-left testing practices by participating early in the SDLC.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in Automation Testing or API Testing are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Testing and Automation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Karate Framework.
  • Excellent knowledge of REST API Automation.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript.
  • Experience writing BDD test scenarios using Gherkin.
  • Experience working with JSON and XML payloads.
  • Strong understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, headers, cookies, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, and Basic Authentication.
  • Experience using Git for source code management.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with Maven or Gradle build tools.
  • Excellent debugging and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

This position is primarily based at our Pune (India) headquarters, requiring all potential hires to work from this location.
