Senior Purchase Engineer

Industry: Heavy Machinery Manufacturing / Production

Job Location: Changodar, Ahmedabad

Job Purpose:

Responsible for purchasing technical goods, materials, and services for industrial and heavy machinery operations while ensuring cost savings, quality improvement, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Purchase materials, components, and services as per quality, cost, and delivery targets
• Ensure continuous supply and resolve supplier-related issues
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead time, and quality with suppliers
• Identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
• Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships
• Prepare purchase orders and manage procurement activities
• Analyze quotations, BOMs, and technical drawings
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies
• Coordinate with vendors for quality and continuous improvement
• Prepare sourcing reports and supplier performance reviews

Required Skills:

• Experience in engineering procurement and operations
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Good knowledge of suppliers, manufacturing processes, and quotations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and computer applications
• Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Understanding of BOMs and engineering drawings

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement from Heavy Machinery or Industrial Automation industry.
