Senior Protection Engineer - Power & Energy

The Senior Protection Engineer requires strong background in protection principles, relay coordination, substation automation, and with 5+ years of relevant experience with TAQA and SE HV & EHV substation projects. The responsibilities include preparation of Control, Protection, Metering, Automation and Monitoring systems design drawings and calculation reports in accordance with TES-P-107, TES-P-108 & TES-P-119. The role requires technical support and guidance to junior engineers

Experience Required:

At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the design and engineering of HV substations for the following:

• MV, HV & EHV protection system.
• MV, HV & EHV metering system.
• MV, HV & EHV automation system.
• SCADA systems
• Mandatory working experience with SEC / NG (Saudi Electricity Company, National Grid), including authority approvals, design compliance, and project coordination.

Proven experience working with major utility and infrastructure stakeholders such as:

• SE
• NG
• Modon
• MOT

Demonstrated experience in:

• Protection and Coordination software calculation
• CT/VT calculation
• Relay settings

Proven ability to:

• Deliver project requirement within prescribed budget, timeframe, and client requirements
• Lead and contribute to the development of junior engineers
• Prepare and review protection, metering and substation automation technical reports

Strong client-facing experience, including:

• Building and maintaining long-term client relationships
• Coordinating with authorities, utilities, contractors, and internal stakeholders

The candidate shall have strong technical knowledge and demonstrated competency in the following areas:

Technical Standards & Design Knowledge Substation Protection design in accordance with:

• IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards
• SEC TES standards
• SA Grid Code

Substation Metering design in accordance with:

• IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards
• SEC TES standards
• SA Grid Code

Substation Automation System design in accordance with:

• IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards
• SEC TES standards
