Job Title: Project Manager Defence Simulator & Training Systems

Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver complex defence simulator and training system projects, involving cross-functional teams spanning Software, Mechanical, and Electronics disciplines. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Agile and Scrum project management, along with the ability to manage end-to-end product development lifecycles in a highly technical and compliance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Plan, execute, monitor, and close multi-disciplinary R&D projects related to defence simulators, training systems, and embedded solutions.
- Define project scope, milestones, schedules, budgets, and deliverables in coordination with stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to contractual requirements, technical specifications, ATPs, and quality plans.
Cross-Functional Team Management
- Lead and coordinate Software, Mechanical, Electronics and System Integration teams.
- Facilitate effective collaboration between teams with diverse engineering backgrounds.
- Resolve inter-team dependencies, resource conflicts, and technical escalations.
Agile / Scrum Implementation
- Act as Scrum Master / Agile Project Manager where applicable.
- Plan and manage Sprint cycles, backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Track velocity, burn-down charts, and delivery commitments.
- Adapt Agile practices to suit hardware + software + system integration projects.
Stakeholder & Customer Coordination
- Serve as the primary interface between R&D, Quality, Production, Program Management, and Customers (Defence / Government / OEMs).
- Present project status, risks, mitigation plans, and progress reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support customer reviews, design reviews (PDR/CDR), FAT/SAT, and acceptance activities.
Risk, Quality & Compliance Management
- Identify technical, schedule, cost, and integration risks and drive mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with defence standards, internal quality systems, and configuration management processes.
- Coordinate with QA for audits, documentation, and acceptance readiness.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including:
- Project plans and schedules
- Sprint artifacts and Agile metrics
- Risk registers and issue logs
- Change requests and impact analysis
- Provide periodic management dashboards and reports.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical & Domain Skills
- Strong understanding of defence simulator systems or complex electromechanical products.
- Working knowledge of product development life cycle.
- Ability to understand system-level architecture and integration challenges.
Project Management Skills
- Proven experience managing cross-functional R&D teams.
- Strong command over Agile & Scrum methodologies.
- Excellent planning, estimation, scheduling, and tracking skills.
Tools & Methodologies
- Experience with project management and Agile tools such as:
MS Project, TFS or equivalent
- Familiarity with configuration management and documentation practices.

Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electronics / Mechanical / Computer Science / Mechatronics or related field).
- Master's Degree in Engineering or Management is desirable.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) / SAFe / PMI-ACP
- PMP (added advantage)
Preferred Experience
- Experience in defence, aerospace, simulator, automotive, or industrial automation domains.
- Exposure to government / defence customers, RFPs, and contractual projects.
- Experience working with multi-location or multidisciplinary teams.
