Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Location: Mumbai, Hyderabad
Project Type: Data Centre
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible and accountable for leading entire construction team to ensure successful planning, execution, commissioning, and delivery of Data Centre projects within defined timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Manage and coordinate with all key stakeholders including clients, design consultants, architects, MEP consultants, technology partners, vendors, contractors, and client-appointed specialists to ensure seamless project execution.
- Lead and supervise the Project Engineering team, Construction Managers, and Assistant Project Managers (APMs) across Civil, Structural, MEP, ICT, Security Systems, and Data Centre Infrastructure disciplines.
- Ensure effective planning and scheduling of the project in coordination with the planning team, including preparation of master construction schedules, commissioning schedules, progress reports, tender programmes, weekly look-ahead plans, and critical path monitoring.
- Monitor performance of Consultants, Contractors, and Subcontractors with respect to technical submittals, QA/QC compliance, testing & commissioning activities, and construction quality, recommending corrective actions where required.
- Prepare and present monthly progress reports, schedule commentary, critical item action reports, and risk assessments, highlighting mitigation strategies and recovery plans.
- Establish and control systems to capture daily site resources (labour, plant, and materials) to monitor productivity, identify delays, and support contractual claims or dispute resolution.
- Ensure strict adherence to project procedures, EHS standards, quality protocols, and Data Centre operational requirements while driving continuous improvement in project delivery processes.
- Ensure the construction programme follows correct logic, sequencing, and coordination, particularly for critical Data Centre infrastructure including electrical systems, UPS, generators, transformers, cooling systems, ICT infrastructure, BMS, EPMS, fire protection systems, and security systems.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents, Data Centre design standards, industry best practices, technical specifications, statutory requirements, and applicable codes.
- Provide proactive and consistent reporting to senior management and clients regarding project status, key risks, mitigation plans, and commercial implications.
- Demonstrate strong client relationship management, anticipating client expectations and ensuring delivery aligned with Data Centre performance, reliability, and uptime requirements.
- Evaluate the financial implications of construction methodologies and sequencing and provide inputs on cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.
- Analyse and advise project teams on programme risks, delays, commissioning challenges, and recovery strategies.
- Manage all key project interfaces, ensuring effective coordination between Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, ICT, Security, and Specialized Data Centre contractors.
- Lead testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and project handover activities to ensure successful project completion and operational readiness.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BE / B.Tech in Civil Engineering along with additional qualifications in Project Management will be an advantage.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in construction project management, including leadership roles managing large multidisciplinary teams.
- Mandatory experience in executing large-scale Data Centre projects from design/concept stage through construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Strong exposure to mission-critical infrastructure including Electrical Systems, UPS, DG Sets, Chillers, Precision Cooling Systems, ICT Infrastructure, BMS, EPMS, and Fire Protection Systems.
- Experience managing testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and operational readiness activities for Data Centres.
- Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder management, and client relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities with the capability to manage multiple stakeholders, consultants, and specialist contractors.
- Proven track record in delivering large Data Centre projects within timelines, budget, quality standards, and performance requirements.
