Senior Project Manager, Datatex ERP Implementations (APAC)

The Role

 

We are hiring a Senior Project Manager to lead complex Datatex ERP implementations for textile manufacturers across Asia-Pacific. You will own 2 to 3 concurrent projects (valued at $200K to $2M+ each), lead delivery teams of 5 to 10 people, and carry full commercial responsibility for each project from kickoff through post-go-live stabilization.

 

These are 12 to 24+ month, often multi-country engagements of 500 to 2,500 person-days. You are the accountable owner of budget, margin, schedule, and governance. This is a hands-on controlling role, not a coordination or program-orchestration role: you personally run the numbers, hold the gates, and make the calls.

 

Permanent, senior-level, reporting to the COO.

 

The One Thing This Role Is Built On

 

Datatex projects have historically leaked margin through late cost discovery. Your primary job is to stop that. Before anything else, we are looking for a project manager who runs active cost and schedule control: someone who tracks budget versus earned value week by week, detects a cost or schedule overrun while there is still time to fix it, and takes the corrective action that protects margin.

 

If you have done this for real, on your own projects, with real numbers, you are who we want. If your exposure to earned value, CPI, or SPI is theoretical (studied for a certification but not used in delivery), this is not the right role for you, and the interview will make that clear quickly.

 

What You Will Own

 

Financial Controlling (the core). You own the project P&L. Budget planning, earned value tracking, cost and schedule variance analysis, margin protection, forecast to completion, and monthly financial reporting to steering committees. You identify and price change orders, catch cost problems early, and act. You do not wait for Finance to tell you a project is underwater.

 

Delivery and Governance. You design and enforce stage gates with clear entry and exit criteria across discovery, design, build, testing, cutover, and hypercare. You maintain a living risk register, run steering committee reviews, control scope through formal change control, and escalate critical risks within days, not weeks.

 

Customer and Stakeholder Leadership. You build trust with customer IT directors, department heads, and project sponsors. You translate Datatex complexity into business outcomes, manage expectations proactively, and deliver bad news early with context and options. You coordinate across time zones and cultures in multi-country APAC settings.

 

Knowledge Sharing. As you establish financial discipline and governance rigor on your projects, you raise the bar for how the wider team operates, with the option to grow into a PM Centre of Excellence leadership role over time.

 

This Role Is Not For You If

 

We want to save you and us the time, so please read this honestly:

 

• You are a product or program coordinator who tracks man-hours and schedule but does not own budget, cost variance, or margin.
• You are a product manager focused on features, backlog, and roadmap rather than delivering a fixed-scope, budgeted implementation.
• You are a solution architect or technical lead whose contribution is the build, not the commercial and delivery ownership.
• You come from a support, AMS, or service-desk background centered on incident and ticket resolution.
• Your project financials are measured only in effort or hours, not in cost, budget variance, and margin.

 

Strong people in these roles exist. This particular role is not one of them.

 

What You Bring

 

• 7 to 10 years of project management experience, including hands-on ownership of at least two end-to-end ERP implementations as the accountable PM (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Infor, Datatex, or equivalent). Not product management, not architecture, not support: delivery ownership.
• Demonstrated cost and commercial control. You have used earned value (or an equivalent method) to catch a real cost or schedule problem and correct it. You can talk through the specifics: the budget, the variance, what you saw, and what you did.
• Governance discipline. PMP, PRINCE2, or IPMA certification, or demonstrable equivalent in practice. You have designed stage gates, run change control, and led steering committees.
• Right-sized delivery experience. Projects of $200K to $2M with distributed teams of 5 to 10, multiple vendors, and complex customer dependencies, often several at once. Comfort operating hands-on at this scale, not only orchestrating very large programs.
• Cross-functional drive. You hold delivery teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders accountable in a matrix, without needing direct authority.
• Fluent English, written and verbal. Additional APAC languages are a plus.
• APAC-based, India preferred, able to travel within the region.
