Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer with experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
The Role
- An Area Project Engineer (PE) will be assigned to a geographical area of a major project with responsibility for coordination of the engineering of several Process Units or Facilities.
- Within assigned area, the Area PE is the key point of contact for the client and WIEPPL personnel for any issues arising within the area. The Area PE shall be fully familiar with scope within assigned area and accountable for progress, hold points, coordination and achieving the project schedule for that area.
- Activities and deliverables of all assigned Project Engineers.
- Execution in line with area man-hour budget plus approved changes.

Responsibilities
The key objectives for this role are:
- Monitor progress of work for Engineering, Process, Procurement and Construction versus the schedule and coordinate between these groups within assigned sub-area.
- Review of key discipline deliverables at the appropriate stage (e.g., Major equipment, package equipment and major bulk material requisitions) for scope compliance.
- Highlight and facilitate resolution for schedule issues relating to all disciplines within the sub-area.
- Identify change within sub-area and raise appropriate change flags.
- Prepare scope, gather man-hour, schedule impact and other technical input and prepare justification for change flags raised by all disciplines.
- Raise multi-discipline Contract Engineering Data sheets / Project Development Record where necessary.
- Validate and research validity of Contract Engineering Data sheets / Project Development Record raised by other disciplines, and recommendation for signature to Area Project Engineers.
- Co-ordinate and control transfer of Engineering data and scope to WIEPPL assuring the quality of data transmitted. For example, blue beam mark-ups.
- Prepare Project Engineering deliverables in an efficient manner.
- Preparation of Multi-discipline sub-contract requisitions.
- Population of line list, equipment list, SP items list, tie-in list and interface databases. Prepare these documents for issue.
- Coordinate, mark-up and prepare P&IDs for issue.
- Request Bluebeam / CAD symbol creation outside standard library as required.
- Attend HAZOP, HAZID and SIL reviews for sub-area and assist Design Safety Engineer in coordinating these reviews.
- Chair and manage formal model review, plot plan review, materials review, and hazardous area classification review for sub-area. Prepare and issue minutes/actions from these reviews.
- Ensure that design data and documentation, including the 3D Model, meet the quality requirements of for all design verification reviews.
- Expedite closure of all actions arising from all design verification activities.
- Attend area engineering meetings.
- Approval of all P&IDs, line lists, equipment lists, special piping item lists and all other Project Engineering deliverables relating to their area.
- Review, challenge and approve Contract Engineering Data sheets / Project Development Record, only when the impact of change as proposed is fully understood and accepted as essential. Raise change notices as appropriate.
- Liaise with client for all design and specification related issues within assigned area.
- Arrange and chair regular area design coordination meetings to discuss inter-discipline design and progress issues (to be attended be all discipline area leads). Ensure notes and actions from these meetings are taken and issued promptly.
- Regular update of Document Management System.
- Review of change flags prior to onward scoping and evaluation as necessary by the Project Engineer. Manage processing and delivery to Project Controls or Business Manager.
- Check multi-discipline Subcontract requisitions.
- Attend Client change review meetings chaired by Project Manager.
- Attend weekly Lead Engineers meeting.
- Attend area design verification reviews as appropriate, where not delegated to Project Engineers.
- Attend constructability review.
- Prepare Butt List for Project Engineering activities within allocated area when directed by Lead Project Engineer.

Qualifications
- Graduate in Engineering (Essential) [Chemical / Mechanical preferred].
- Post Graduate in Engineering (Desirable).
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in Engineering environment in project execution, with 3 years in discipline.
- Ability to check engineering deliverables in a multi-discipline task force-based engineering environment (Essential).
- Experience in FEED and EPC engineering execution including Field Engineering in Project execution (Desirable).
