JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Senior Professor/Professor – School of Legal Studies

Department: School of Legal Studies

Location: REVA University, Bengaluru Campus

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Excellence & Teaching Leadership

  • Deliver advanced teaching across Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes in Law.
  • Contribute to curriculum enrichment, syllabus revision, and course design in accordance with emerging legal developments, judicial trends, and BCI/UGC requirements.
  • Introduce innovative pedagogical practices including case law analysis, moot simulations, clinical legal education, drafting workshops, and experiential learning modules.
  • Develop academic resources, legal case repositories, teaching manuals, and student reference materials.
  • Support continuous academic quality enhancement within the school.

2. Research, Publications & Scholarly Contribution

  • Lead and contribute to high-quality legal research in specialized domains of law.
  • Publish research papers in Scopus/UGC Care/peer-reviewed indexed journals, books, book chapters, and policy papers.
  • Undertake funded research projects, legal consultancy assignments, and socio-legal studies.
  • Promote interdisciplinary research collaborations with other Schools, legal institutions, and policy think tanks.
  • Guide development of case studies, legal commentaries, white papers, and legislative review papers.

3. Faculty Mentoring & Academic Support

  • Mentor junior faculty members in teaching effectiveness, lesson planning, classroom engagement, and academic documentation.
  • Support faculty in research publication strategies, project proposal writing, FDP participation, and academic career progression.
  • Provide academic guidance in outcome-based education, accreditation preparedness, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Assist the School leadership in maintaining academic discipline and performance standards.

4. Student Development & Academic Mentorship

  • Guide students in academic progression, dissertation work, legal research, publications, moot court preparation, internships, and competitive examinations.
  • Encourage participation in moot courts, legal aid clinics, ADR forums, court visits, and national/international legal competitions.
  • Strengthen professional ethics, legal drafting, advocacy, analytical reasoning, and employability skills among students.
  • Mentor doctoral scholars and postgraduate researchers in thesis quality and publication outcomes.

5. Academic Administration & Compliance Support

  • Support implementation of academic regulations, BCI norms, UGC guidelines, NAAC standards, and University quality benchmarks.
  • Contribute to academic audits, departmental reports, course files, lesson plans, and statutory documentation.
  • Participate in Board of Studies, Research Committees, IQAC initiatives, examination reforms, and curriculum review meetings.
  • Assist in accreditation evidence preparation and departmental academic planning.

6. Industry, Judiciary & Institutional Outreach

  • Develop professional linkages with judiciary members, senior advocates, law firms, corporate legal divisions, NGOs, and policy institutions.
  • Organize guest lectures, legal conclaves, workshops, faculty development programmes, and continuing legal education sessions.
  • Facilitate internships, chamber attachments, field exposure, and legal practitioner interactions for students.
  • Contribute to institutional branding, admissions outreach, rankings, and reputation building through external engagement.

Qualification & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Law from a premium institution with consistently strong academic credentials.
  • Minimum 15 years of teaching/research experience in higher legal education.
  • Demonstrated experience in legal research supervision, publication, curriculum development, and faculty mentoring.
  • Strong understanding of Bar Council of India regulations, UGC norms, NAAC standards, and legal education quality frameworks.
  • Proven record of scholarly publications, conference presentations, institutional committee participation, and academic leadership contribution.
