The Fabrication Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, and fabricating metal components and structures according to technical drawings and specifications. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various tools and machinery to produce high-quality fabricated products
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge about basic EHS guidelines/Environmental aspect and Risk related to inspection activities on Machines and during Assembly
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine fitting requirements.
- Assemble and fit metal parts by aligning, grinding, and adjusting components to ensure proper fit.
- Mark, measure, and cut materials accurately before assembly.
- Use hand tools, power tools, gas cutting and machinery such as grinders, drills, and fitting equipment.
- Assist in welding preparation and ensure parts are correctly positioned prior to welding.
- Inspect assembled components for defects or misalignment and make necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with fabrication and welding teams to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Operate grinding machine to prepare chamfering of parts.
- Lean approach likes 5s, TPM, Kaizen etc. and maintain safe & clean workplace
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
- Approach daily work with continuous improvement in mind, working to continuously develop and improve department practices to reduce cycle time, improve machine availability and efficiency, and lower operating costs.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications
- ITI fitter / Diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship preferred
- Proven experience as a Heavy Fabrication Fitter.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Skilled in measuring, marking, grinding, gas cutting and fitting metal parts.
- Competent with hand and power tools.
- Good mechanical aptitude and physical stamina.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures in a fabrication or workshop environment.
Preferred Skills
- 5 to 8years of experience in Heavy fabrication or Pressure Vessel Fabrication.
- Familiarity with quality control processes.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
