Senior Product Owner

Goals and deliverables

In The Product Owner Role, You'll

  • Maximize the outcome of the Agile teams to give best value to the customers.
  • Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog
  • Create actionable user stories for the development team
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings (if needed)
  • Answer developers questions as the customer/user representative
  • Accept the finished user stories to make sure the work meets the criteria
  • Participate in iteration retrospectives
  • Work in a context of a SAFe Agile team, supported by the SAFe PM, the RTE and the System Architect to apply the best agile practices in term of product backlog management (writing a good features and user stories, setting good acceptance criteria, priorization and refinement of the backlog, accepting the user stories, managing demos).

You'll have the opportunity to take-on the hat of an Epic owner and Product Management role

  • The Product Manager is responsible for defining and prioritizing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap within a SAFe Agile environment. Operating at the Program (ART) level, the Product Manager collaborates closely with Product Owners, System Architects, Release Train Engineers, and key business stakeholders to deliver customer-centric value at scale. The role ensures alignment between market needs, business goals, and delivery execution across Program Increments (PIs).
    • Product Strategy & Vision
  • Define and communicate the product vision and long-term strategy across teams and stakeholders.
  • Translate market insights, customer feedback, and business objectives into value-driven product roadmaps.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.
    • Backlog Management & Prioritization

  • Own, define, and prioritize the Program Backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Break down features into clear, well-defined epics and capabilities for ART planning.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure readiness of features for PI Planning.
    • Program Increment (PI) Activities
  • Lead feature definition and preparation for PI Planning events.
  • Communicate business context, vision, and priorities during PI Planning.
  • Work with teams postplanning to refine features, adjust scope, and manage dependencies.
  • Participate in system demos and inspect & adapt events to assess progress and optimize future delivery.
    • Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
  • Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Engage regularly with customers to gather insights and validate feature value.
  • Facilitate alignment across cross-functional partners such as UX, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Support.
    • Value Delivery & Outcome Measurement
  • Ensure delivered features meet acceptance criteria and customer expectations.
  • Define KPIs and success metrics to measure business impact and product adoption
Specific Accountabilities

  • Understand, identify and define customer needs
  • Transform the high-level vision of the Product Manager into detailed requirements, working closely with a range of stakeholders for the product, including non-customer stakeholders such as security, operations, support, and others.
  • Interact with Product Managers to write user stories affecting the team backlog
  • With the support of the Agile team, lead the definition and prioritization of the User stories, based on customer needs and value, to deliver based on market and business needs
  • Consider and prioritize amongst all user stories the enabler work and sequence the architectural runway in collaboration with the development team
  • Ensure the features and user stories backlogs are reprioritized before each release and sprint planning session
  • Constantly align and communicate with respective agile counterparts and leadership team
  • Do sufficient analysis to ensure requirements are ready to be worked on
  • Participation to SAFe events and ceremonies (Accept stories prior Sprint review, Actively participate to team coordination meetings, PO synchronization meetings, draft plan reviews and management meeting, Actively participate to System demos and Inspect & Adapt workshops, Attend the events and sharing sessions organized by the Community of Practice of Product Owners)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager, Product owner or similar role, ideally in a scaled agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of SAFe principles, including Program Backlog management, PI Planning, and Lean Portfolio Management.
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable features.
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile tools (e.g., Jira).

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification or SAFe Agilist (SA) certification.
  • Experience working in complex enterprise environments or multi-team product ecosystems.
  • Technical background or experience interacting with engineering teams.
  • Experience with customer-centric discovery methods (e.g., design thinking, lean experimentation).
