Job Description

We're hiring:

Senior Product Manager — Growth & Revenue — 1acre.in

Land is the most opaque market in India. People still get burned buying a plot because the basic information — is it verified, who owns it, what's the master plan, can I even reach the seller — is scattered or hidden.

We're fixing that. 1acre is India's verified land & plot marketplace: 16,000+ verified lands and plots on one live map, real sellers you can contact directly, no spam. Mission is simple — solve the information problem in land. Verify it, make it instantly discoverable, help people transact at scale. Then take it global.

The verification problem is largely solved. The next one is commercial: get found, get people to act, get paid. We're looking for a Senior PM to own that end to end — with AI as a force multiplier at every step.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Organic SEO growth

  • Land search is high-intent and geographically fragmented — agriculture land for sale in Sangareddy, Guntur master plan, HMDA layout survey number. Thousands of queries, real buyers behind each one.
  • You own the page architecture, programmatic templates, internal linking, schema, indexation — and the content quality that keeps rankings once you win them.
  • Measured on non-brand organic sessions and organic-sourced contacts. Not impressions.

Engagement & conversion

  • Traffic that lands and leaves is a cost.
  • You own the funnel from landing to contact: map and listing UX, filter comprehension, search-intent matching, trust signals, and the WhatsApp handoff.
  • WhatsApp is our primary conversion channel by design, not by accident.
  • You should have a view on how to make it convert harder.

Monetization

  • Subscriptions, premium map layers, and the developer dashboard.
  • Determine what's worth paying for, pricing, paywall placement, and how value is demonstrated prior to purchase.
  • Own revenue and conversion-to-paid directly as key metric targets.

Data intelligence & API

• Our layer data — survey numbers, master plans, metro, air funnels, cadastral, heritage — is the most defensible thing we have, and today only our own product consumes it.

• There is a plausible business selling it to developers, lenders, brokerages, infra consultants.

You own finding out whether that's real: packaging, pricing, the API surface, the first design partners. The founder runs early sales conversations with you.

• Converting demand signals into a product — or telling us clearly there isn't one — are both wins.

Quality, end to end

• Turn problems into specs crisp enough that both engineers and AI agents can build from them with zero guesswork.

• Partner with design (Figma) from idea to pixel — flows, edge cases, empty and error states, and the copy that goes with them.

• Own the test plan across buyer, seller, and developer journeys. Verify on real devices. Confirm the analytics events actually fire. Sign off before anything launches.

HOW WE WORK

We ship, then we decide. Something small in front of real users in two weeks beats two months of research. Kill rate is expected to be high and that's fine — killing your own work fast is a skill we value, not a failure we tolerate.

• Weekly ship cadence. Cut scope rather than slip dates.

• Every launch carries a metric and a decision date before it goes out.

• You instrument what you ship. Define the Mixpanel events yourself, build the funnel, read it honestly.

• If you need three rounds of validation before committing to a bet, you'll find this frustrating.

YOU'RE A FIT IF YOU

  • Have 4–8 years shipping products, with at least 2 owning growth, SEO, or monetization on a consumer or marketplace product.
  • Have moved a number and can prove it — organic traffic, conversion rate, ARPU, paid conversion. Pick one and walk us through what you actually did.
  • Know SEO for real. Not managed an agency — you understand crawl budget, programmatic page quality, cannibalization, and why most programmatic SEO decays.
  • Are genuinely AI-native — you use LLMs every day to spec, prototype, test, and analyze, and you have real opinions about where they help and where they don't.
  • Write with precision. A spec from you leaves nothing ambiguous.
  • Read your own data. SQL or a BI tool, funnels, cohorts, Mixpanel or equivalent. You don't wait for an analyst to tell you what happened.
  • Treat QA as your job, not someone else's — it's not done until you've tried to break it.
  • Know (or will rapidly learn) the Indian land context — survey numbers, plots vs lands, cents/gaj, master plans, district-level nuance.
  • Will go to the field. Some of this product cannot be understood from a desk in Hyderabad.
  • Sweat the details AND move fast. Both, not one.

BONUS POINTS

  • Marketplaces, classifieds, proptech, or fintech background.
  • Have productized or sold data or an API before, even at a small scale.
  • Maps/GIS — Mapbox, QGIS, cadastral or survey records.
  • Telugu, or another South Indian language, for user conversations.
  • Early-startup experience. You know what the first 20 people have to be like.
  • Hands-on with Figma, Linear/Jira, Mixpanel/Google Analytics, Search Console.

WHY 1ACRE

  • A real problem at real scale — every honest fix here protects someone's life savings.
  • AI-first for real — we ship with modern AI tooling, we don't just talk about it.
  • Small team, high ownership, fast decisions. Your work goes live, not into a backlog.
  • You own revenue-facing surfaces from day one, reporting directly to the founder. No layers.

 WHAT THIS JOB IS NOT

  • Not grooming a backlog someone else wrote.
  • Not a role with research, design, and analytics teams standing between you and the answer.
  • Not an SEO-agency-management job. You will be in the page templates and the data.
  • Not comfortable. The market is messy, the data is messy, and much of the work is deciding what to believe on incomplete information.
