The Opportunity
Education is India's most aspirational household spend. Families are willing to commit decades of income to a college admission letter - but the financing infrastructure behind that decision is a decade behind the rest of consumer lending. Disbursements still get stuck on physical paperwork. Co-borrower verification still relies on offline documents. EdTech platforms with millions of students still hand customers off to call centres for a loan they should be able to get inside the buying flow.
At FinBox, we're building that financing layer - AI-native, data-first, embedded everywhere students, parents, and EdTech platforms operate. We have the data
substrate (Account Aggregator, BankConnect, DeviceConnect), a thriving AI agents ecosystem, and the lender + embedded distribution playbook. We need the product leader who'll turn this into a category-defining education
financing loan origination system business.
What You'll Own
You'll lead a connected product surface end-to-end:
Education LOS – The Origination + Servicing Engine
Education
The loan origination and servicing system purpose-built for education loans - not retrofitted from a generic lending platform. Education loans have unique mechanics that generic LOS systems handle poorly:
- Co-borrower-first underwriting (parent income, not student income)
- Multi-tranche disbursement to colleges/universities (not borrowers) on per-semester schedules
- Moratorium + course-period grace before EMI starts
- Long tenure (8–15 years) and step-up repayment patterns
- Study-abroad mechanics - FX, university enrollment validation, and visa-linked timelines
- Credit substitution patterns - alternative-data co-borrower scoring where bureau data is limited
You'll own the LOS roadmap, workflow/journey orchestration, and unit-economics dashboards, while making the LOS system deeply embedded-finance ready.
Who We're Looking For
Must-Haves
- 8–12 years of product experience, with at least 4–5 years owning an education lending product end-to-end (LOS, journey, or embedded finance - not adjacent
areas like payments-only)
- Deep fluency in education loan origination, including co-borrower underwriting, bureau and AA integrations, multi-tranche disbursement, KYC + vKYC, EMI + RPS logic, and regulatory requirements
- Strong partner/B2B product instincts - you've designed for two-sided platforms (borrowers and lenders/merchants/partners) and understand that the partner
side is often where the product succeeds or fails
- Strong quantitative orientation - you operate through funnel data, unit economics, and approval-rate cohorts. Roadmap discussions without numbers
don't convince you
- Strong cross-functional leadership - you can work across engineering, risk, sales, and partnership teams and drive execution without directly owning those
