Senior Developer Observability, Testing & UX
What You'll Do
- Build & ship backend/services and UI components with a focus on operability and usability.
- Own observability endtoend: instrument code, define SLIs/SLOs, set alerts, and drive incident readiness (traces, metrics, logs).
- Raise the quality bar: design for testability, maintain robust automated tests (unit, integration, contract/E2E), and lead code reviews.
- Collaborate on UX: partner with designers to translate flows/wireframes into accessible, performant UI; use telemetry to validate UX decisions.
- Continuously improve: run postincident reviews, track improvement items, and mentor engineers on observability/testing best practices.
MustHave (Core)
7+ years professional software engineering experience or equivalentObservability expertise:- OpenTelemetry (SDK/autoinstrumentation) and OpenTelemetry Collector configuration (receivers, processors, exporters).
- Prometheus/PromQL for metrics & alerting; Grafana dashboards.
- Distributed tracing with Jaeger or Tempo; log correlation with Loki.
- Testing excellence: unit, integration, contract/E2E; CIfriendly test design; performance/load testing fundamentals.
- UX development: can implement designerprovided flows and components with accessibility in mind; comfortable collaborating on interaction details and telemetryinformed UX.
- Strong system design, debugging, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Search/analytics: Lucene queries; Elasticsearch / OpenSearch (indexing, mappings).
NicetoHave (The Rest)
- Languages/tech: Java (strongly preferred), Python, Servlets, XML.
- Event frameworks: Apache Kafka, Apache Camel (retries, DLQ, idempotency).
- Cloudnative (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD, security best practices.
