Mechanical Design Engineer – Electro-Hydraulic Tri-Lift

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of our Electro-Hydraulic Tri-Lift product. The candidate will be primarily responsible for mechanical product design, mechanism development, structural design, 3D modelling, detailed drawings, prototyping and design validation. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks, good knowledge of Fusion 360, and the ability to convert mechanical concepts into practical, manufacture products. Experience in hydraulic lifting equipment, electro-hydraulic systems, material handling equipment or similar machinery will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

·Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for the Electro-Hydraulic Tri-Lift.

·Create and modify 3D models, assemblies and mechanical layouts using SolidWorks.

·Use Fusion 360 for product development, modelling and design modifications as required.

·Develop mechanical mechanisms involving: Lifting arms, Linkages, Pivot mechanisms, Pins and bushes, Shafts, Brackets, Frames, Platforms, Supports, mounting arrangements

·Design structural and load-bearing components considering strength, stability, safety and durability.

·Perform basic load, force, torque and mechanism calculations.

·Select appropriate materials, fasteners, bearings, bushes, shafts and other mechanical components.

·Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs and assembly drawings.

·Apply appropriate dimensions, tolerances, fits and GD&T wherever required.

·Ensure designs are suitable for fabrication, welding, machining, assembly and maintenance.

·Work closely with production and fabrication teams during prototype manufacturing and assembly.

·Identify and resolve design issues related to interference, clearance, movement, strength and manufacturability.

·Support prototype testing and incorporate improvements based on testing and field feedback.

·Modify existing designs to improve strength, weight, cost, reliability and ease of manufacturing.

·Maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs and revision records.

·Coordinate with Electrical, Hydraulic, Production, Purchase and Service teams during product development.

Requirements

Core Technical Requirements – Mandatory

Mechanical Product Design

·Strong understanding of mechanical product development.

·Experience in designing real-world mechanical components, assemblies and mechanisms.

·Ability to develop a product from concept → 3D model → drawing → prototype → testing → production.

·Strong hands-on experience in SolidWork

  • Proficiency in: Part modelling, Assembly modelling, Sheet metal / fabrication modelling, Weldments, 2D drawings, Assembly drawings, Design modifications

Mechanism & Structural Design

·Good understanding of mechanical mechanisms and moving assemblies.

·Knowledge of load-bearing structures and structural component design.

·Ability to perform basic force, load, torque and strength calculations.

·Understanding of shafts, pins, bushes, bearings, linkages and joints.

·Practical knowledge of welding, fabrication and machining processes.

Engineering Drawings

·Ability to prepare accurate manufacturing and fabrication drawings.

·Good knowledge of tolerances, fits, clearances and GD&T.

·Ability to prepare and maintain BOMs and engineering documentation.

Fusion 360

·Working knowledge of Fusion 360 is required.

·Ability to create and modify 3D models and assemblies.

·Experience in using Fusion 360 for product development, prototyping or design validation will be preferred.

Preferred Experience – Electro-Hydraulic / Lifting Systems

Experience in the following areas will be a strong advantage but is not mandatory:

·Electro-hydraulic equipment

·Hydraulic lifting systems

·Hydraulic cylinders

·Scissor lifts / platform lifts

·Material handling equipment

·Agricultural machinery

·Construction equipment

·Industrial machinery

·Special-purpose machines

·Heavy fabrication equipment

·Automotive / off-highway equipment

Candidates with experience in integrating hydraulic cylinders, actuators, pumps, valves and mechanical lifting mechanisms will be given preference.

Prototype & Product Development

The candidate should be comfortable working beyond CAD design and should actively participate in:

Concept Design → CAD Modeling → Engineering Calculations → Drawing → Prototype → Assembly → Testing → Design Modification → Final Product

The candidate should be willing to interact with the shop floor, fabrication team and service team to understand practical product issues and implement engineering solutions.

Candidate Profile

·B.E./ B.Tech /Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

·10+ years of relevant mechanical design/product development experience.

·Strong practical knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing.

·SolidWorks experience is mandatory.

·Fusion 360 experience is preferred / required for day-to-day design work.

·Strong understanding of mechanisms and structural design.

·Good analytical and problem-solving ability.

·Ability to understand physical mechanisms and convert them into practical CAD designs.

·Should be comfortable working in a product development / R&D environment.

·Should have a hands-on and solution-oriented approach.
