The business and the mandate

This is an infrastructure contractor with projects spread across western India, from roads and bridges to utilities and industrial buildings. Spend is concentrated in cement, steel, aggregates, bitumen, equipment hire and subcontract packages, and much of it is currently decided at project level. Flexiple is a managed marketplace that helps companies hire experienced professionals, and it is finding a Senior Procurement Manager to bring this together.

• Central rate contracts for steel, cement and bitumen, replacing project-by-project buying
• A subcontractor and equipment-hire panel with clear pre-qualification and rating
• Material planning linked to project schedules, so site teams are not buying on emergency
• Back-to-back terms with client contracts, including price variation clauses
• A cost-saving record that finance and the projects directors both trust

How you would work

You would report to the director of projects and lead a team of six, including two site-based procurement coordinators. You will negotiate with large suppliers, sit in tender reviews with the estimating team and spend one or two days a week on sites. When a price swings or a vendor slips, the call lands with you.

Experience we expect

Eight to twelve years in procurement, with at least four in construction, infrastructure or heavy engineering and some time leading a team. You should be comfortable with BOQs, work orders, subcontract agreements and statutory documentation. A civil engineering background or an MBA helps.

The conversation path
