SAN Automotive is an engineering-driven manufacturer specializing in sheet metal stampings, metal fabrication, welded assemblies, and tool & die development. We serve major OEMs and Tier 1 customers in the automotive, agriculture, and industrial sectors.
Role Objective
We are looking for a Value Engineer and Process Expert to lead our next phase of operational excellence. The goal is to maximize throughput and reduce costs in our Press, Fabrication, and Weld shops without compromising quality.
Key Responsibilities
- VA/VE Leadership: Perform systematic Value Analysis and Value Engineering to reduce material, process, and design costs.
- Plant Layout: Redesign layouts for One-Piece Flow and implement SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) to crush changeover times.
- Technology Upgrades: Identify bottlenecks and lead the shift from manual to Robotic/Automated welding and material handling.
- Productivity Data: Establish standard man-minutes, monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and maintain 5S/Visual Management standards.
- DFM & Prototyping: Lead Value Engineering during the prototyping phase to ensure new products are Designed for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Material Optimization: Analyze nesting patterns and material utilization to minimize scrap in sheet metal blanking.
- Process Standardization: Conduct Time and Motion studies to establish work standards and eliminate non-value-added activities (MUDA).
- Bottle-neck Analysis: Optimize Tandem and Transfer lines in the Press Shop to improve stroke-per-minute (SPM) and repeatability.
- Internal Logistics: Minimize material handling and internal movement between the Press, Fabrication, and Weld shops.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive Kaizen initiatives and monitor corrective actions for machine downtime and quality rejections.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: 8–10 years in Sheet Metal or Fabrication (Automotive/Heavy Engineering background).
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of Draw/Trim operations and Robotic Welding cell optimization.
- Methodologies: Practical experience in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and SMED.Mindset: Focused on waste elimination (MUDA) and continuous process improvement.
