Position Overview:

The Senior Principal Engineer – Power Converter will be a key member of the Power Supply team, supporting current and future projects in the Power Electronics domain. This individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in high-voltage power converter technologies, driving innovation and advancing solutions for Electrification and Power Distribution Systems (EPS) within aerospace applications. This role requires a strong combination of hands-on technical expertise and leadership. The candidate will make independent technical decisions, lead critical technology initiatives, and define system architectures. The position focuses on high-density aerospace power converters, planar magnetics, Model Based Development (MBD), digital control implementation on FPGA and DSP Controller and wide bandgap devices (SiC and GaN), while guiding cross-functional teams and shaping technical strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the technical roadmap for power supply technologies, including high-density converters for, planar magnetics, wide bandgap devices (SiC/GaN), and embedded control systems.
  • Model Based Development (MBD) based Digital control implementation from MATLAB to FPGA or DSP Controller.
  • Lead the design, control, validation, and optimization of aircraft power converters (LLC resonant converters, DAB converter, High-efficiency isolated DC/DC converters)
  • Define and enforce engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices for power electronics, including EMI/EMC, safety, reliability, derating, and compliance with aviation regulations.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight to engineering teams, ensuring rigorous design reviews, problem-solving, and delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, systems, firmware, and manufacturing) to optimize system performance, including thermal management, packaging, and manufacturability.
  • Develop digital control and apply system modeling and simulation (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink,..) to support design, validation, and control development.
  • Drive the adoption and integration of advanced technologies, including SiC/GaN devices and planar magnetics, to improve efficiency, power density, and cost.
  • Contribute to Battery Management Systems (BMS) and aviation-grade energy storage solutions.
  • Lead hardware design reviews, system debugging, and validation under aerospace operating conditions.
  • Partner with product management and business leadership to translate requirements into technical roadmaps, execution plans, and resource strategies.
  • Represent the power electronics domain in executive reviews, customer engagements, and audits.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development (patents, invention disclosures, publications).
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, reports, and presentations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (Power Electronics preferred). Exceptional Bachelor's candidates with strong experience may be considered.
  • 15+ years of industry experience in power electronics, preferably in aerospace applications.
  • Technical Expertise Required in:
  • Aircraft power converter digital control in Matlab,
  • LLC converters, DAB converters and Electromagnetics design.,
  • Battery Management Systems (BMS) and aviation-grade power supplies,
  • SiC and GaN semiconductor technologies,
  • Full product development lifecycle (requirements through qualification),
  • Thermal management and EMI/EMC in aerospace systems and
  • Industry standards such as DO-254, DO-160 & Mil-704F.
  • Strong technical leadership and decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on experience with modeling, simulation, and embedded control systems.
