Job Description

Senior Manager Portfolio Investments (Family Office)

Role Overview

The Senior Manager Portfolio Investments will lead end-to-end investment management for a diversified family office portfolio across public and private markets, aligned with the family's long-term wealth, legacy, and liquidity objectives. The role combines portfolio strategy, deal evaluation, and ongoing monitoring with a strong emphasis on governance, risk management, and discretion.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead asset allocation and portfolio construction across equities, fixed income, AIFs, PMS, PE/VC, real estate, and other alternative assets, in line with the family's riskreturn profile and investment policy.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement investment strategies (public and private markets) and periodic rebalancing plans to optimize returns while preserving capital.
  • Source, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities including funds, co-investments, direct deals, and secondary transactions, leveraging internal and external networks.
  • Lead detailed due diligence: financial modeling, valuation, scenario analysis, competitive benchmarking, and risk assessment for proposed investments.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, track benchmarks, and generate regular MIS, dashboards, and thematic reviews for promoters/family.
  • Continuously review existing investments for performance, exit options, and reallocation opportunities; drive timely exit decisions where relevant.
  • Build and manage relationships with private banks, wealth managers, fund managers, investment bankers, and other ecosystem partners for proprietary deal flow.
  • Participate in and sometimes lead investment committee discussions, prepare investment notes, and present clear, data-backed recommendations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines, internal governance standards, and investment policy documentation; coordinate with legal, tax, and compliance advisors as needed.
  • Stay on top of macro trends, sector themes, and regulatory developments; translate insights into actionable portfolio views and strategy updates.
  • Support broader family-office initiatives such as estate planning, succession planning, and philanthropy-related investment structures, where required.

Candidate profile

  • 712 years of relevant experience in investment management, family office, UHNI/HNI wealth management, PE/VC, or buy-side research/portfolio management roles.
  • Strong exposure to multi-asset portfolios and comfort managing ticket sizes in the 100+ crore range and above.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, alternative investments, and deal structuring in the Indian context; global exposure is an added advantage.
  • Proven track record of originating, evaluating, closing, and monitoring investments with clear outcome orientation.
  • High proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and investment memo preparation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely and discretely with promoter family members.
  • Strong ethical compass, integrity, and ability to handle confidential information with utmost discretion.

Educational qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, or related discipline from a reputed institution.
  • Postgraduate qualification (MBA/PGDM in Finance, CFA, CA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or FRM will be an advantage.
