Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Platform & Cloud Engineer who will design, build, run, and scale the backend and cloud infrastructure that powers Keus smart devices, mobile applications, and integrations.
This is not a feature-only role. You will be the go-to owner for backend platform reliability, performance, and cloud systems, ensuring that the platform remains fast, stable, and scalable as Keus grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and reusable cloud-native backend architectures that support Keus smart home ecosystem.
- Architect, manage, and own AWS cloud infrastructure, including containerized services, networking, and security.
- Build internal libraries and SDKs that are reused across teams to speed up development.
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth, safe, and frequent releases.
- Continuously optimize backend systems for performance, memory usage, and reliability.
- Design robust data models, caching layers, and asynchronous processing to support IoT devices and mobile applications.
- Work with messaging and queue-based systems to ensure reliable data delivery at scale.
- Actively handle production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and put preventive measures in place.
- Collaborate closely with product, mobile, firmware, and hardware teams to enable scalable integrations.
- Mentor 12 junior engineers and own multiple backend/platform modules end-to-end.
Key Measures of Success
- Platform uptime above 99.9% with minimal production incidents and fast recovery.
- Backend systems scale smoothly with growing devices, users, and integrations without performance degradation.
- Reliable, fast CI/CD pipelines enabling frequent, safe, and predictable releases.
- Measurable improvements in system performance, stability, and cloud cost efficiency.
- Strong technical ownership demonstrated through reduced defects and growth of junior engineers under mentorship.
Key Competencies
- Strong hands-on experience owning AWS-based systems, not just using them
- Experience working with containers (Docker) and cloud networking
- Proficiency in TypeScript and either Go or Python, along with basic scripting
- Solid understanding of backend system design, data modeling, caching, and asynchronous processing
- Proven ability to improve system performance, stability, and scalability
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and production-grade systems
- Comfort taking responsibility for live systems and production issues
Qualifications
- 47 years of experience in backend, platform, or cloud engineering roles
- Proven ability to own modules or systems end-to-end in a production environment
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small technical initiatives
- Track record of delivering scalable, reliable, and secure systems
