Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee Basic & Detail Piping design engineering activities for projects.
  • Develop and review Piping Design Basis, material selection, engineering specifications, piping layouts, isometrics, and general arrangements adhering to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Piping materials, Codes, and standards in all design and engineering activities.
  • Develop and review 3D models using E3D, PDMS, SP3D, AutoPlant, or PDS.Conduct model reviews (30%, 60%, 90%) with client and multidisciplinary teams. Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines to resolve clashes and optimize layouts.
  • Prepare and review Statutory approval drawings/documentation for piping systems.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers in piping design principles and best practices.
  • Interface with stress engineers for Critical line identification,Nozzle loads, Flexibility analysis, Spring hanger selection.Review stress reports and incorporate necessary design changes.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, technical specifications, and documentation related to piping components.
  • Conduct technical reviews, design audits, and participate in design optimization efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, international codes, and company standards.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination activities with project stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards for piping design deliverables.
  • Provide technical support during construction, installation, hydrotesting, and commissioning. Resolve site queries, issue revised drawings/sketches, and support red-marking.
  • Participate in field visits, constructability reviews, and punch list activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes: ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API standards, OISD, NORSOK. Participate in internal/external design reviews and audits. Ensure quality, safety, and integrity of engineering deliverables.
  • Support Lead Piping Engineer in managing schedule and manpower. Monitor deliverable progress and ensure timely submission. Participate in client meetings and provide technical input.

Additional Skills

  • Proficiency in Piping materials, Codes, and standards relevant to the industry.Strong knowledge of Statutory approval drawings/documentation processes.
  • Good understanding of Piping codes (ASME B31 series),P&IDs and Process flow understanding, Nozzle orientation, accessibility, maintainability,Pipe supports and load transfer concepts.
  • Expertise in 3D modeling tools: E3D, PDMS, SP3D, AutoPlant, PDS. Familiarity with stress analysis tools like CAESAR II (for interface)
  • Leadership skills with the ability to guide and train junior engineers and designers.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaboration abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn and apply new technologies and methodologies in piping engineering.
  • Familiarity with Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety (QEHS) standards and regulations is a plus.
