Physical Design Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Physical Design Manager to lead and scale our SoC physical design team in Bengaluru. This role is ideal for a leader with deep technical expertise in physical design flows and proven experience managing high-performance engineering teams. You will drive execution across multiple projects, collaborate with global cross-functional teams, and deliver silicon that powers next-generation products.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead a team of physical design engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development.
- Define and execute physical design strategies for complex SoCs, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Partner with global design, architecture, and verification teams to align on project goals and timelines.
- Technical Execution
- Own end-to-end physical design flow: floorplanning, synthesis, place & route, timing closure, power optimization, and sign-off.
- Drive innovation in design methodologies, automation, and tool flows to improve productivity and quality.
- Ensure designs meet performance, power, and area (PPA) targets while adhering to schedule.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with RTL, DFT, and packaging teams to deliver robust and manufacturable designs.
- Interface with EDA vendors and foundries to optimize flows and resolve technical challenges.
- Represent the Bengaluru team in global program reviews and technical forums.
Basic Qualifications
- 12–16 years of experience in physical design, with at least 5 years in leadership or management roles.
- Proven track record of delivering multiple tape-outs in advanced technology nodes (7nm and below preferred).
- Strong expertise in industry-standard EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor).
- Deep understanding of timing analysis, power optimization, and signal integrity.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing distributed teams across geographies.
- Exposure to high-performance CPU/GPU/AI accelerator designs.
- Strong background in scripting (Tcl, Perl, Python) for flow automation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and drive clarity.
