Senior P&C Actuarial Consultant

Key Responsibilities

• Provide actuarial expertise in P&C pricing, reserving, claims analysis, and portfolio performance.
• Define actuarial requirements, assumptions, calculation methods, and validation criteria.
• Analyze policy, premium, exposure, and claims data; identify data quality issues and their business impact.
• Develop or review actuarial models and validate their accuracy and suitability for business use.
• Translate actuarial concepts into clear requirements for data and software engineering teams.
• Support testing, reconcile calculations, investigate discrepancies, and validate business rules.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Document methodologies, assumptions, limitations, and key decisions.

Required Skills and Experience

• 7+ years of actuarial experience, with substantial P&C / General Insurance experience.
• Strong expertise in pricing and/or reserving, with a working understanding of related P&C functions.
• Experience with loss development, frequency and severity analysis, loss ratios, and insurance portfolio analysis.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and practical experience with SQL.
• Experience with Python or R for actuarial analysis and modelling.
• Ability to independently assess business problems and recommend suitable actuarial approaches.
• Experience collaborating with business, data, and technology teams.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Qualified actuary, Associate, Fellow, or advanced progress toward a recognized actuarial qualification through IAI, IFoA, CAS, or an equivalent body.
• Exposure to North American P&C insurance markets.
• Experience in actuarial transformation, insurance analytics, or technology implementation.
• Familiarity with actuarial pricing or reserving software.
• Experience with model validation and business acceptance testing.
