Shift Timing: 3.00AM - 12.00PM PST (US Pacific Time)

Engagement Type: Full Time

About the role: We are seeking a hands-on, senior Oracle Applications DBA to own day-to-day and strategic administration of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) R12.1/R12.2 and its supporting Oracle database platforms across on-prem and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role is heavily production-facing and will lead maintenance. Upgrades, security hardening, performance tuning, incident response, and operational documentation, with strong cross-team communication to Apps, Infrastructure, Risk/Security, and vendors/Oracle Support.

Primary Responsibilities (high Priority Evidenced Operational Needs)

  • Production operations, incident response, and stability
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for production outages and performance degradation across EBS application and database tiers.
  • Diagnose and resolve blocking sessions/deadlocks, contention scenarios (including concurrent SQL + maintenance activities), and restore services with clear validation steps.
  • Execute planned maintenance windows end-to-end: pre-checks, change execution, post-validation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Oracle EBS database maintenance & reorganization
  • Lead Oracle EBS DB reorganizations (multi-phase execution), including stakeholder coordination, execution planning, and service restoration communication.
  • Perform and troubleshoot index rebuilds/reorg activities, recover from failures, and implement safer sequencing to avoid deadlocks and downtime.
  • Own operational best practices for tablespace/FRA/TEMP/UNDO monitoring and proactive space management.
  • Security hardening, risk, and compliance support
  • Drive Oracle EBS security hardening initiatives (multi-phase), including:
  • password profiles and policies, hashing, auditing controls
  • cookie/domain controls and secure configuration updates (e.g., Blitz / secure config updates)
  • Act as the DBA point of contact for Risk, Audit, and Security inquiries:
  • justify/remediate privileged access (including ANY privileges)
  • execute RFC-based privilege removals and exception renewals
  • implement Oracle-recommended DB profiles and security baselines
  • Health checks, runbooks, and operational documentation
  • Author and maintain EBS health check documentation covering DB + EBS operational areas (sessions, CM, tablespaces, FRA, blocking sessions, etc.).
  • Build/maintain runbooks for production support, maintenance validation, and recurring operational tasks.
  • Create/maintain procedural guides (e.g., server access request process) to reduce friction and improve auditability.
  • Oracle Support & vendor coordination
  • Own the lifecycle of Oracle SRs, tickets, and RFCs; act as liaison between Oracle Support, internal teams, and vendors (including reporting tools).
  • Provide clear technical evidence (logs, test results, reproducibility steps) and drive issues to closure.

Core Platform Responsibilities (role Baseline)

  • Oracle EBS administration (R12.1 / R12.2)
  • Administer and support Oracle EBS R12.2 application + database tiers with strong command of:
  • Autoconfig, tech stack maintenance, web tier checks
  • Concurrent Manager monitoring/tuning
  • ADOP cycle execution & troubleshooting, patching readiness and failure recovery
  • cloning/refresh procedures and post-clone validation
  • Database operations (HA/DR/backup/performance)
  • Administer Oracle DB platforms supporting EBS (including 19c), with strong capability in:
  • RAC, Data Guard, RMAN (backup/recovery strategy, execution, validation)
  • performance tuning using AWR/ADDM, SQL tuning, indexing strategies
  • production-grade monitoring and capacity management
  • Upgrades & patching
  • Plan and execute:
    • EBS upgrades (12.2.x lifecycle)
    • DB upgrades (e.g., 19c)
    • patching (CPU/PSU, tech stack, EBS/DB) with disciplined rollback planning
OCI Operations

  • Support OCI-hosted EBS/DB workloads including DBaaS, IaaS, and Exadata (Gen1/Gen2); perform cloud-side maintenance and operational tasks (patching, connectivity/service configuration, compute shape changes, etc.). (Capability strongly aligned to senior profiles in the candidate pool. )

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of Oracle DBA experience with strong Oracle EBS Apps DBA exposure (R12.1/R12.2), including patching/ cloning/ autoconfig/ adop troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated production support ownership: incident diagnosis, stability improvements, maintenance execution, and post-change validation.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and Oracle DB administration (11g19c).
  • Proven ability to work across teams and communicate clearly during outages and maintenance windows.

Preferred Qualifications (highly Valued)

  • Deep experience running Oracle EBS on OCI (DBaaS/IaaS/Exadata) and performing cloud-side operational tasks and patching.
  • Strong EBS R12.2 upgrade history and significant ADOP troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Enginatics Blitz Reporting support (connection strings, standby routing/service names) and vendor coordination (aligned to the operational needs you listed).
  • Security/compliance experience: privileged access governance, auditing, baseline hardening, and RFC-based change execution. (Aligned to the operational needs you listed.)
  • Certifications such as Oracle 19c OCP / OCI Foundations / OCI Architect are a plus.
