Role Summary
The Senior Operations Manager oversees vessel operations, drives fleet performance optimization, and improves port turnaround. Responsibilities include managing pre- and post-fixture activities, controlling voyage costs, coordinating with charterers and terminals, enhancing overall efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Performance Management
• Daily operation duties on several vessels, including the procurement of compliant bunkers and the appointment of port and canal agents.
• Ensure pre-and post-fixture performance within the Operations team.
• Speed/consumption performance monitoring, including performance management on Time Charter
• Support the claims department on all claims.
• Comply with company procedures and processes including the SOX regulations compliance requirements.
Process Improvements
• Improve and maintain operational efficiency for the team.
• Implement and Optimize processes to achieve better performance:
o support customer satisfaction,
o maximize earnings,
o minimizes downtime and voyage cost within the commercial contracts framework.
• Promote best practices within the operations team and across the fleet.
• Implement new industry rules and regulation relevant to the operations department.
Reporting
• Ensure the company's vessel management software (IMOS) is updated accurately daily for the operated vessels and the fleet.
• Developing and maintaining statistics, benchmarks and quality reports to monitor operational performance.
• Maintaining databases including IMOS and SharePoint, to ensure high data quality and business controls.
Stakeholder Management
• Update superiors daily on matters of relevance.
• Escalation of any risk and liability issues and for decisions which exceeds Charter Party terms.
• Ensure smooth coordination between the Vessel, Technical, Technical managers, Finance and Chartering.
• Ensure the Claims and Collections team is fully aligned with Operations.
Additional Responsibilities
• Member of the Emergency Response team in case of Emergencies.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in shore-based vessel operations.
- Preferred LPG Vessel Sea-going experience as a senior deck officer.
- Strong analytical and data management capabilities.
- Prior experience in handling voyage data management in Veson/IMOS or similar systems.
- Stakeholder management with IT, Chartering and Commercial to integrate Commercial and Operational Processes.
