Role Overview

As a Senior OP Clinic Facility Medical Coder, you'll play a critical role in optimizing coding accuracy, ensuring compliance, and supporting revenue integrity for outpatient clinic operations. Your expertise will directly impact client satisfaction and the financial health of the facilities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately code outpatient clinic visits, procedures, and services using CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes.

Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, payer-specific requirements, and industry standards.

Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and billing teams to resolve documentation and coding discrepancies.

Conduct audits and provide feedback to improve documentation and coding practices.

Stay updated on coding changes, regulations, and best practices.

Essential Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Deep understanding of Medicare guidelines, NCCI edits, and local coverage determinations (LCDs).
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on revenue optimization and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Must-Have Expertise in the Following Codes

• Evaluation & Management (E/M) codes (99202-99215 for outpatient visits).
• Procedure codes for common outpatient surgeries and interventions.
• Radiology and Imaging codes (70010-79999).
• Laboratory and Pathology codes (80047-89398).
• Injection and Infusion codes (96360-96379).
• Modifiers and their proper application (e.g., -25, -59, -76).

Qualifications

• Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or equivalent (e.g., CCS, COC).
• Minimum 5+ years of medical coding experience in outpatient facility settings.
• Thorough knowledge of payer-specific coding guidelines.
• Familiarity with coding software and EHR systems.
