Job Description: Network Management System (NMS) Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Network Management System (NMS) Engineer with 5-6 years of hands-on expertise in managing and optimizing telecommunications networks using Huawei's U2020 and Ericsson's ENM OSS platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network operations, configuration management, fault management, and performance optimization in a complex telecommunications environment. The NMS Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless functioning, monitoring, and maintenance of our network infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the end-to-end network management systems, primarily Huawei U2020 and Ericsson ENM, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and availability.
- Configure and customize the NMS platforms to monitor various network elements, including routers, switches, base stations, and other critical components.
- Monitor the network's health, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Utilize the NMS platforms to troubleshoot and diagnose network faults, coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Perform routine audits of network configurations, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with network planning and engineering teams to implement performance optimization strategies based on data insights from NMS platforms.
- Participate in capacity planning and resource utilization efforts to ensure network scalability and efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of scripts or automation tools to streamline network management tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to network management systems and OSS platforms.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the team, sharing knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-6 years of relevant experience working with Huawei U2020 and Ericsson ENM OSS platforms in a telecommunications environment.
- Strong proficiency in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network management systems, including experience with alarm management, performance monitoring, and configuration management.
- In-depth knowledge of telecommunications protocols, technologies, and network architectures.
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and custom tool development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex network issues and identify root causes.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams and interact with colleagues at various levels.
- Relevant certifications such as Huawei Certified Network Professional (HCNP) or Ericsson OSS System Administration would be a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to network monitoring and management.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with other OSS platforms beyond Huawei U2020 and Ericsson ENM.
- Experience with cloud-based network management solutions.
- Knowledge of network virtualization and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) concepts.
