Role description:

The Senior Network Design Engineer will serve as a technical authority within the Keyloop Global Network Architecture & Engineering team, owning the end-to-end design, engineering, and governance of enterprise network solutions. The role spans advanced routing and switching, firewall architectures, and f5 BIG-IP platforms, ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available connectivity across data centres, employee sites, customer environments, and public cloud platforms.

The engineer will lead the architecture, deployment, and optimization of f5 application delivery services while acting as one of the highest escalation points for complex network and application delivery incidents, including deep root cause analysis.

A core responsibility includes designing and integrating hybrid and cloud networking solutions, primarily in AWS along with some Azure exposure, covering connectivity, security, and resiliency.

The role also drives standards, automation, and best practices, mentors junior engineers, and partners with application, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver mission-critical services

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing, implementing and managing network infrastructure and traffic flows into, out of and between DC and private cloud (AWS & Azure) environments
  • Leverage scripting/automation skills to facilitate the management of hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure seamless integration, security, and performance optimization throughout the cloud migration process
  • Design and configure data flows on f5 load balancer infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco firewalls (ASA & Firepower) and VPNs to ensure robust network security
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex network issues across LAN, WAN, and cloud environments
  • Work with the Keyloop Security Operations team as necessary where exceptional security approval may be needed to implement firewall and routing configurations
  • Define and document new firewall rules and routing
  • Automate network configuration and management tasks using scripting languages such as Terraform, and AI capabilities such as Claude Code
  • Plan and execute migration of on-premises servers and services to AWS, ensuring seamless network integration and security
  • Provide information required to Network Engineering team where design or re-design work is needed
  • Implement and manage AWS networking components, including VPC, subnets, routing, security groups, and VPN connectivity
  • Work extended hours where necessary to ensure appropriate liaison with Network Engineering and Operations teams in Europe and Canada

Essential Skillsets


  • This is primarily a Network Engineering role, however the ideal candidate should bring at least 9 years experience across both Operations (BAU) and Design/Engineering roles
  • Significant, verifiable knowledge and experience of Cisco routing, switching, ASA firewall and f5 load balancer products
  • Certifications: CCNP / CCIE (Preferred), Azure/AWS Networking preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of additional mainstream network infrastructure and security products and services would be a distinct advantage
  • Demonstrable and sound understanding of network protocols and services, and their application in large and complex business environments
