Senior MYSQL/PostGreS Database Administrator

MySQL Responsibilities:

• Understanding MySQL architecture in detail.
• Manage and maintain MySQL databases ensuring high availability and performance.
• Perform database tuning and optimization.
• Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime in case of failures.
• Monitor database performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Document database procedures and policies for future reference.
• Create and manage user accounts, permission and roles following the organizations security policies and requirements.
• Develop and execute database scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline operations.
• Postgres Responsibilities:
• Create the objects in the database, such as triggers, indexes, etc.
• Able to setup streaming replication between two databases
• Monitor the performance of the database and ensure optimum performance.
• Identify potential issues in the database to solve them early.
• Maintain backups and should be able to restore the database.
• Monitor security and apply preventive measure to adhere security guidelines.
• Schedule consistent maintenance on the server
• Maintain database schema.
• Manage database availability.
• Give best practice guidance to the development team.
• Resolve any production data issues.
• Tablespace management
• Role and privilege management
• Develop automation technologies to accelerate the process of data loading.
• Develop relational databases.
• Ensure data integrity.
• Manage user access and permissions by adding and removing users as required
• Maintain the database using different utilities. This includes using like pg_ctl and psql.
• Should be able to write complex queries, function / procedure to get required data
• Should be able to analyze cost of the query and do necessary changes to improve performance.
• Cloud Responsibilities:
• Exposure on multiple cloud platforms like AWS, GCP (added advantage) etc.
• Understanding Cloud concepts like RDS, EC2, CloudWatch, S3 Bucket etc.
• Manage and maintain backup strategies in AWS.
• Perform data migration from one account to another account in AWS.
• Monitor and analyze database activity, identify trends, and optimize query performance and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot database related issues and provide technical guidance.
• Stay updated with the latest cloud database technologies, tools, and best practice.
