Join the QualityOne Data Pipeline team as a Senior Software Engineer focused on building reliable systems that support healthcare data processing, quality reporting, and value-based care. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend services and data pipelines that move, transform, and validate clinical and operational data. You will work with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Snowflake, and Airflow to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions. This role is
remote/hybrid/in-office as applicable and reports to the
Engineering Manager.
About The Team
The QualityOne Data Pipeline team builds resilient ETL and backend systems that help make healthcare data usable for analytics, reporting, and downstream applications. The team supports quality measures, CCDA-based data exchange, and operational workflows that improve data reliability and timeliness. Team members partner closely with product managers, engineers, and operational stakeholders to deliver dependable data services and improve platform performance. The team uses cloud services, container platforms, orchestration tools, and data warehouse technologies to support these outcomes.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services and data pipeline components using Java, Spring Boot, and Node.js.
- Build and maintain cloud-based solutions on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and operations.
- Develop and optimize data pipelines that process, transform, validate, and deliver healthcare data reliably.
- Implement and support data workflows using Snowflake and Airflow.
- Translate business and technical requirements into secure, maintainable, and high-performing engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations partners to deliver features and resolve technical issues.
- Write, review, and improve code with a focus on quality, testing, observability, and operational readiness.
- Support production systems by troubleshooting issues, analyzing root causes, and contributing to incident resolution.
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and practical guidance on engineering practices.
- Use AI tools to speed up debugging, code exploration, documentation, and test creation while checking results for accuracy, security, and fit for the system.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to technical design discussions and roadmap planning.
- Help improve engineering standards for testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Document system behavior, operational procedures, and implementation details.
- Support improvements to reusable services, frameworks, and shared components.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve developer productivity.
- Stay current on relevant engineering tools, data technologies, and healthcare data practices.
Expected Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience building backend services with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with Node.js is preferred.
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying solutions on AWS.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with data pipelines, workflow orchestration, or data platform technologies such as Snowflake and Airflow.
- Understanding of microservice architecture, reliability, scalability, and production support practices.
- Healthcare industry experience, including value-based care, quality measures, or CCDA, is preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
