Location: Remote (Costa Rica, Colombia, India, or Philippines)
Compensation: Based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
Type: Independent Contractor
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Medical Writer to develop accurate, engaging, high-quality medical content — researching complex scientific topics and translating technical, primary literature into clear content for both expert and lay audiences. You'll also help shape educational and training materials and serve as a therapeutic content expert on your projects.
This is a role for a scientifically trained writer with pharma or biotech medical writing experience, fastidious attention to detail, and the ability to make complex medical concepts genuinely accessible. The right words help people see more clearly — and, done well, they inform, influence, and change lives.
What You'll Do
- Research complex scientific topics and locate appropriate primary citations from the primary literature.
- Translate primary literature into accurate, compelling prose that a lay reader can easily understand.
- Develop high-quality medical content and contribute to educational and training materials.
- Serve as a therapeutic content expert, providing direction to internal staff on your projects.
- Assist in proposal development and take part in presentations and meetings.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders, working accurately under deadline pressure.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in life sciences, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of medical writing experience in a pharma or biotech setting.
- Deep ability to understand a medical topic and turn it into high-quality content.
- Fastidious attention to detail, with the flexibility to prioritize multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
- Computer literacy — proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong written and spoken English.

- Experience with medical education, training, or broader medical communications content
