Job Description

Senior Mechanical Engineer

About Us:

We're reinventing meat for a planet-positive future. Our Gen4 precision-structuring platform is the first in the world to recreate all perceptible components of meat. It recreates the muscle fibres, connective tissue and fat of whole-cut chicken entirely from plants. Backed by investors with deep manufacturing and food technology expertise, we've commissioned our pilot line in Bangalore and are scaling rapidly toward first commercial launches. Every kilogram of Demolish meat saves water, land and carbon while keeping animals out of the equation. If you're excited to push the boundaries of engineering and scale solutions that matter, join us and help make food systems kinder, healthier and more sustainable.

Role Summary:

We are looking for energetic individuals to join our team of passionate engineers, builders and creators to tackle the challenges of building a more sustainable food system. As part of the mechanical engineering team, your role will involve creating innovative equipment that advance processing technologies from initial concept to bench scale to scale them to full production.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualise, design, and develop novel mechanical equipment and sub-systems from early prototypes through pilot-scale builds
  • Translate process and product requirements into practical machine concepts, mechanisms, assemblies, and test setups
  • Perform engineering calculations, CAD modelling, detailing, and design validation to ensure performance, manufacturability, and reliability
  • Design and improve test rigs, characterization setups, QC fixtures, and related development tools to support product development and maintain quality standards
  • Support the scale-up of bench-top equipment to pilot and production scale
  • Work closely with R&D, process, and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve throughput, consistency, and usability
  • Drive iterative build-test-debug cycles and translate learnings into robust design improvements
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and related documentation for fabrication and assembly
  • Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and machine shops during part development, build, and commissioning
  • Apply sound engineering practices in GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DFM, DFA, safety, and maintainability
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines

Requirements:

  • B.Tech / DD / M.Tech / MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design, and Applied Mechanics and related fields
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in machine design, new product development, or complex mechanical assemblies
  • Experience taking equipment or sub-systems from concept through prototyping, testing, and fabrication; pilot or production scale-up experience preferred
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA analysis tools.
  • Proficient in GD&T, DFM, DFA, and understanding of manufacturing machines.
  • Experience with engineering calculations and design validation
  • Good understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, welding, and assembly
  • Experience working with vendors / fabricators and supporting build, debugging, and commissioning
  • Experience with food equipment, sensors/instrumentation, knowledge of Python, Arduino/C++, Raspberry Pi, and/or PLCs is a plus.
  • Identify strongly with the company's mission, are driven by curiosity and have a collaborative spirit.
