Job Description: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Sciverse Solution Pvt ltd, located in Pune City/ Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, is Sciverse R&D facility and a vertically integrated engineering hub. It supports end-to-end product design lifecycle management across Sciverse's businesses, focusing on point-of-care diagnostic platforms that integrate microfluidics, biosensors, optics, and AI-driven analytics to deliver laboratory-grade accuracy at the bedside. Mechanical Engineers at Sciverse contribute to End to end product development, simulation, testing for reliable, efficient, and sustainable products. Lead the design & development, validation of mechanical systems and components of medical diagnostic devices. Drive NPI projects, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborate across teams to deliver innovative, reliable products that enhance patient care.

Position Overview

• Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • Key Focus: Design, analysis, prototyping, and validation of mechanical components and systems for POC Devices, emphasizing innovation in sustainability and mechanical reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design, modeling, and primary analysis using tools like CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo), FEA (e.g., ANSYS), and other simulation methods for structural, thermal, and dynamics analysis.
  • Develop and optimize mechanical components/systems in areas such as fluid channel, standard components, electronics enclosures, battery management, sheet metal designs, interconnects, and electro mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct product verification and validation testing in Sciverse labs, including mechanical reliability, Leak testing, failure analysis (e.g., FMEA, FTA, 8D tools), and materials characterization.
  • Apply Design for Reliability (DFR), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and cost-out/value analysis (VAVE) principles to ensure products meet standards for efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electronics, software, mechanical systems) on integrated product development, including digital prototyping, additive manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement for mechanical aspects of sciverse's portfolio in POC devices and similar products.
  • Participate in innovation projects aligned with megatrends like POC diagnostic at bedside
  • Document designs, prepare technical reports, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements).

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience: 5–7+ years in mechanical design, product development, or R&D; experience in medical devices related industries is highly desirable. 

  •  Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials selection, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes (e.g., sheet metal, additive manufacturing,injection molding, milling/turning). materials selection, and design calculations (Verification and Validation Method)
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and simulation (ANSYS, MATLAB for structural analysis).
  • Experience in reliability engineering, FMEA, testing/validation, and electromechanical systems
  • Experience in diagnostic hardware, microfluidics/fluid systems, optics integration, or point-of-care devices.
  • Knowledge of usability engineering (IEC 62366) and human-centered design.
  • Apply Design for Excellence (DFx: Manufacturability, Assembly, Cost, Reliability) principles to optimize designs for production and cost-out initiatives.
  • Own or contribute to NPI projects, ensuring timely milestones, regulatory compliance (ISO 13485, IEC 60601), and documentation (design calculations, drawings with GD&T, DHF).
  • Work cross-functionally with electronics, systems, procurement, suppliers, and regulatory teams to integrate mechanical designs with sensors, optics, and overall system performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for design issues, drive continuous improvements using Lean/Six Sigma, and support Innovation disclosures.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, mentor juniors Engineer or Bio Engineer, and leverage advanced labs/ecosystem for prototyping and testing from Sciverse strategic partner.
  • Experience in requirement transition from VOC to CTQ.

  • Proven ability in NPI, supplier management, adaptation projects, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, Drive for result, viral and written communication, and good presentation skills.

  •  Preferred: Knowledge of digital tools, sustainability-focused design, or experience in Sciverse-relevant domains (e.g., electro Mechanical integration).
