What's the role

As a Senior Materials & Corrosion Engineer at Shell, you will provide deep technical leadership in materials engineering, corrosion, coatings, and asset integrity management across Shell's global portfolio. You will work within a 30+ member global expert team, delivering highimpact R&D and technical solutions that support upstream, downstream, LNG, GTL, and deepwater assets.

This is a senior technical role with influenceshaping multiyear technology programs, integrity strategies, and nextgeneration solutions that enhance safety, reliability, and value while supporting Shell's transition to a lowercarbon energy system.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead complex R&D and technical service projects in materials, corrosion, coatings, and integrity management across global assets.
  • Provide senior technical expertise to develop, assess, and deploy integrity management strategies aligned with energy transition objectives.
  • Design, execute, and interpret materials and corrosion laboratory testing programs to support technology development, qualification, and deployment.
  • Deliver materials and integrity solutions across the full lifecyclefrom concept development through field applicationworking closely with global, multidisciplinary experts and external partners.
  • Contribute to technology innovation, digitalization, and improved asset integrity practices to reduce CAPEX, OPEX, and operational risk.
  • Coach, mentor, and technically guide junior engineers, building deep materials and corrosion capability within the organization.

What You Bring

  • Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 4+ years experience in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: Strong, proven background in materials engineering and corrosion, preferably within the oil and gas or energy industry.
  • Added advantage: Prior R&D experience and/or handson field exposure in asset integrity, corrosion management, or materials qualification.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with materials and corrosion laboratory environments, test design, execution, and data interpretation.
  • Solid working knowledge of key industry codes and standards, including ISO 15156, AMPP TM0316, API 571, ASME BPV Section VIII, and ASME Section IX.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholdermanagement skills, cultural adaptability, and a handson, deliveryfocused mindset suited to a global technical leadership role.
