Job Description

Experience: 12+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years managing engineering teams (including

managing managers or tech leads)

Education: Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Engineering, or related field

Technical Capabilities

Strong foundation in Java, Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript — able to review architecture, challenge

designs, and make sound strategic trade-offs

Experience building and operating systems in regulated financial environments (wealth management,

asset management, banking, or brokerage platforms)

Drives cloud infrastructure strategy (AWS preferred), CI/CD maturity, and production reliability across

teams

Deep understanding of data security, compliance requirements (SOC 2, SOX, GDPR), and audit

expectations in financial services

Champions AI/ML adoption across the engineering organization and measures its impact on velocity and

quality

People Management

Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineering talent at all levels

Experience managing teams of 10-25 engineers across multiple squads or workstreams

Skilled at performance management — sets clear expectations, gives direct feedback, manages out

underperformers, and develops high-potential engineers into leads

Builds psychological safety across teams while maintaining high standards for delivery and code quality

Develops M3 managers and tech leads — coaches them on hiring, performance management, and team

dynamics

Key Differentiators

Balances strategic thinking with execution — sets quarterly roadmaps and also jumps in to resolve

escalated production incidents

Manages through organizational change — has led teams through platform migrations, re-orgs, or shifts

in engineering culture

Understands the intersection of engineering and financial product delivery — translates business

requirements from portfolio managers, compliance teams, or advisors into technical plans

Drives cross-team initiatives — coordinates dependencies, aligns priorities, and ensures teams work

effectively together

Accountable for hiring pipeline health, team retention, and engineering culture at the department level

organizational productivity
