American Express @ Work helps large and global companies manage their Corporate Card and Corporate Purchasing Card programs more efficiently online. From performing everyday administrative tasks and account maintenance, to accessing reports and utilizing reconciliation solutions, @ Work enables fast, efficient, and effective corporate card program management resulting in time and cost savings for our customers.
We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join the American Express @ Work engineering team. This next-generation digital platform is designed to give global clients a best-in-class digital experience, providing greater control over their corporate programs. The Statements team is responsible for generating paper and digital statements for our corporate customers across the globe. This team will design and build next-generation, cloud-native capabilities to support scalable, reliable, and high-quality statement generation and delivery.
We want someone with
Strong commercial card and non-card system acumen to drive technical vision and drives project execution for large-scale digital data systems.
Has exceptional experience leading industry differentiable digital and data domains at scale
Various technical domains and systems skills to design and develop fault tolerant systems
Experience with design and architect cloud native solutions for global entities
Hands-on experience in building complex digital and data platforms across large organization.
Ability to review and debug code is essential.
Critical thinking to solve complex business and technical problems
Lead, contribute and collaborate with enterprise shared service teams with creativity and outside-in perspective.
Able to lead with automation, engineering excellence and efficiency mindset and guide teams to adopt those in their delivery pipeline
Able to hold the technical quality bar high and for the team as well

Key Responsibilities
Software Development
Perform technical aspects of software development
Function as a leader on a software engineering team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)
Lead code reviews and ensure higher standard of code quality
Debug software components and identify code defects for remediation
Lead stakeholder management, product integration discussion
Leads the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments.
Empower teams to automate deployments in test or production environments
Empower teams to automatically scale applications based on demand projections
Ensure team adheres to security and regulatory best practices
Leadership
Takes accountability for the success of the team achieving their goals
Drives the team's strategy and prioritizes initiatives
Influence team members by challenging status quo, demonstrating risk taking, and implementing creative ideas
Be a productivity multiplier for your team by analyzing your workflow and contributing to enable the team to be more effective, productive, and demonstrating faster and stronger results.
Mentor and guide team members to success within the team
Minimum Qualifications
10 + years of software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience
Extensive hands-on experience with the design and development of complex, large scale distributed applications and products that require a deep understanding of architectural patterns, software development best practices, relational and non-relational databases, and automated testing.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required advanced degree preferred
Hands-on coding experience in the following technology environment - React, Java Script, Redux, NodeJS, GraphQL, REST based APIs, Java, PostgreSQL, Akamai, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, GoLang, Kotlin, DB2, Spring framework.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Sonar
Experience with testing tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, WebDriver IO, Karate, Junit, JMeter, LoadRunner, PostMan, WireMock, and others
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with logging and observability tools such as DynaTrace, Prometheus, Splunk, and others
Experience with GitHub CoPilot Experience with Cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
Experience with Scrum, Kanban, or another Agile application development methodology
Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing technical professionals.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills required, with ability to create and deliver effective presentations to upper management and architects
