What The Role Is

Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) is a member of Outward Bound International - a global network of Outward Bound schools operating in 35 countries. Established in 1967, OBS is recognised for its leading experience in outdoor education with more than 500,000 people trained. You will be part of the Sector Development team at OBS, supporting the Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE) Council to uplift the standards and safety of Singapore's OAE sector, in support of the National OAE Masterplan.

As the Senior Manager, Sector Development (Partnership), you will conceptualise and coordinate engagements, educational and outreach efforts in the OAE Community (including practitioners, employers and members of the public). In addition, you will perform the secretariat duties to the OAE Council by providing research analyses, consolidating discussions and documenting key decisions into reports and proposals for decision making to deliver the OAE Council's mandate of building capacity and capabilities of the OAE sector.

What You Will Be Working On

You will strategise, plan and coordinate regular outreach engagement events involving stakeholders in the OAE sector:

  • Build networks and maintain connections with the OAE Community;
  • Conceptualise and plan public education initiatives on OAE safety for OAE Community;
  • Monitor and execute all OAE-related physical and digital engagements and ensure sufficient resource requirements, such as content, manpower, logistics, etc, are met; and
  • Provide summaries and insights of various engagements to OAE Council.

    You will also manage public communications in relation to OAE matters and ensure appropriate coverage for both government and private stakeholders. You will work with NYC Strategic Communications, other government agencies and sector partners on public messages like media announcements and narratives for OAE Council. You will create and maintain a resource site for the OAE Community and also co-manage the public facing OAE Council email address.

    As the secretariat, you will collaborate with the Council sub-committees representatives to facilitate and track progress of each sub-committee to co-ordinate the implementation of initiatives and projects. You will also assist by guiding and synthesizing primary information and secondary data for Council's decision, which can include preparing submission of papers/ presentations to Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) or NYC senior management.

What We Are Looking For

  • At least 6 to 8 years experience in partnership building and relationship management
  • Knowledge and experience in managing wide variety of stakeholders and professional partners such as private-public stakeholder engagement, cross-unit experience, etc will be useful
  • Exposure in strategic communications, service industry and public engagement is advantageous
  • Understanding of the outdoor education scene will be advantageous
  • Organized and detail-orientated
  • Able to work independently while managing multiple shifting priorities in fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Proactive in seeking knowledge and applying them
  • Able to travel between any of OBS campuses / sites (e.g. Pulau Ubin, East Coast Campus, Punggol Reception & Activity Centre, Changi Campsite, and OBS@Coney)
