The Global Supply Organization is a multi-continental Function that comprises of the entire Value Chain from product conceptualization to delivery to the commercial front. Within the Global Supply Organization are included, Research & Development, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain Management and Logistics.

Role: Head - Projects

Base location: Turbhe Navi Mumbai (with frequent travel to Africa & Pune)

Reporting To: Manufacturing Head

Role Scope: Multi-country | Greenfield & Brownfield Projects

Role Purpose

The Senior Manager Projects is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering capital projects across Shalina's manufacturing and supply network.

The role will drive end-to-end project execution, including engineering coordination, contractor management, and commissioning support, while ensuring timelines, cost, quality, and compliance objectives are met.

The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams and support the central project governance framework, while ensuring effective execution at site.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Strategy & Portfolio Governance

  • Lead planning and execution of greenfield and brownfield projects, including plant expansions, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Track progress against milestones and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Support commissioning, qualification readiness, and handover to operations.

2. Engineering Coordination

Coordinate development of:

  • Concept layouts and detailed engineering designs
  • Civil, MEP, utilities, and process engineering deliverables

Ensure alignment with manufacturing, GMP, quality, and EHS requirements.

Work with consultants and engineering teams to resolve design and execution challenges.

3. Costing and Commercial Support

Support CAPEX estimation, budgeting, and cost tracking.

Participate in:

  • Vendor and contractor identification
  • Tendering and bid evaluations
  • Commercial discussions and negotiations

Monitor project costs and drive cost control and efficiency.

4. Contractor and Vendor Management

  • Manage execution through contractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Monitor contractor performance against scope, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and services.

5. Project Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track and report project progress, risks, and issues to leadership.
  • Maintain project documentation, dashboards, and status reports.
  • Identify risks proactively and support mitigation planning.

6. Compliance Safety and Quality

  • Ensure adherence to GMP, safety, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
  • Support audit readiness, documentation, and validation requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety and compliance culture at project sites.

7. Stakeholder Coordination

Collaborate with:

  • Manufacturing & Operations
  • Quality & EHS
  • Procurement & Finance
  • Ensure alignment between site teams and central project function.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management preferred.

Experience

  • 12 years of experience in industrial or pharmaceutical project management.
  • Proven track record of delivering greenfield manufacturing facilities and large-scale expansions.
  • Strong exposure to GMP environments, utilities, process equipment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing projects in Africa or other emerging markets is strongly preferred.

  • Commercial acumen in contractor negotiations and CAPEX control.
  • Executive presence with the ability to engage Board-level and CXO stakeholders.

Work Environment

This position is based at the Global Supply Organization office in Navi Mumbai. The role will require travel domestically/ internationally up to 25% of the time.
