Job Description

Senior Manager — Professional Services Analytics & Strategic Finance

Remote · India · Full-Time Contract · Long-Term Engagement

About the role

An owner-operated U.S. professional services firm (multiple specialized practice areas, 150–300 person team, lower-middle-market) is hiring a dedicated, full-time senior contractor to build the analytics that determine how people-driven services businesses are actually understood and valued internally.

This is not a generic FP&A or investment-banking-modeling seat. You will own the analytics methodology that connects revenue, clients, people, and productivity into a single coherent picture — the kind of analytics that matter most in a services business and that most analysts have never been taught to build properly.

You will work directly with the firm's principal. Single line of report. Full ownership of the methodology you build. Long-term seat, not a project gig.

What you will actually build (the core of the role, 75% of your time). Know that the core data is there (with known gaps), and there are working prototypes to improve on, and leadership understands we will need to partner on the available data (i.e., leadership is not unrealistic). You will not be charged with fixing cleaning data; rather, scoping, leading, and project managing the remediation of data and refinement of outputs.

Revenue and client analytics - Revenue mix by practice area; recurring vs. project tagging methodology designed for a multi-division services book - Client concentration (top 10/20/50, HHI); client-level gross margin; cross-sell mapping across practice areas - Cohort retention and net revenue retention by client vintage; logo and revenue churn; expansion - Pipeline and backlog quantification; pricing/rate-card trend analysis; win-rate by source.

People and productivity analytics - Utilization, realization, and effective billable rate trends by practice area and by individual - Bottoms-up revenue builds: headcount × utilization × realization × rate, reconciled to top-down - Capacity modeling and operating-leverage scenarios for the next 12–24 months - Attrition, tenure, compensation-model economics by practice area, and key-person concentration

Output: clean, investment banker blue-chip-grade analytics packages in Excel and PowerPoint. Recurring monthly KPI packs for principals and practice leaders. Ad-hoc strategic analyses on demand.

Secondary (25% of your time): three-statement model maintenance, scenario modeling, board materials, ad-hoc support. There is an existing three-statement model and a bottom-up budget; you will need to rebuild and refine it.

Who you are

  • 5+ years in transaction services, buy or sell-side advisory, Quality of Earnings, or in-house FP&A specifically inside a people-driven professional services business — consulting, advisory, agency, staffing, or specialty finance. Ex-Big 4 USI/GDS Transaction Services Manager profiles are an excellent fit.
  • Has personally built (not just supported) at least three of: recurring vs. project methodology for a services firm; cohort/NRR for a non-SaaS services book; bottom-up utilization × realization × rate model; client concentration and client-level margin analysis; capacity / billable-hours forecasting.
  • Native fluency in services-firm mechanics: WIP/unbilled, DSO, lockup, project vs. recurring revenue treatment, how utilization and realization mathematically drive gross margin.
  • World-class, keyboard-driven Excel. Expect a no-mouse interview. Clean model architecture, separated inputs / calcs / outputs, no circular references, version-control discipline.
  • Strong PowerPoint for executive-grade output.
  • Direct, written-and-spoken English suitable for daily collaboration with a U.S. principal.

What we are explicitly not looking for: pure IB analyst profiles whose deepest experience is LBO / DCF / comps without services-sector operating analytics. Pure controllership/accounting close profiles. Generalist FP&A without deep services-firm exposure.

Compensation

  • $6,500 US a month of committed economics. Base: $4,500 USD/month, paid monthly at month-end in arrears. Deferred compensation: $2,000 USD / month is earned and accrued, and is paid out at project end in a lump sum or if you facilitate a full transition to a new contractor/employee, should you need to leave the project early. If the project lasts over 9 months, the $2,000-per-month waterfall payment will begin at the end of the 9th month and continue monthly until the end of the project, at which time the remaining accrued amount will be paid out.
  • Plus Spot bonuses for high performance — speed, quality, teamwork, work ethic, availability. Discretionary, frequent, real.
  • All-in target economics: $90-100K USD / yr equivalent for a successful 12-month engagement, weighted to reward staying the distance.
  • Paid via Wise / Deel Contractor or other acceptable method in USD. Contractor invoices under own GST registration.

Engagement terms

  • Full-time independent contractor, 55 hrs/week on average, with ebbs and flows, depending on demands.
  • Working hours: 1:30–10 PM IST, with flexibility, would consider a split shift.
  • Expected to last at least 12-months. This could turn into a permanent role, where the resource could lead the development of our offshore model, which is currently all US-based, so there's lots of opportunity to add value.
  • Fully remote; you will be provided with a company computer and email.
  • Standard MSA with IP assignment, mutual NDA, non-solicit, US governing law
