As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking Technology, you will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and delivering Infrastructure-as-Code and platform services to accelerate modernization and automation for customers, clients, and employees.

Job responsibilities

  • The role is accountable for end-to-end system reliability and operational efficiency, applying an engineering-first mindset to operations by treating operational challenges as software problems.
  • You will drive effective incident prevention and resolution, reduce client impact, and maintain rapid delivery velocity by establishing strong observability, proactive event management, and a disciplined approach to automation.
  • You will also guide the adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering to reduce repeatable toil, improve insight and decisioning, enable self-healing capabilities, and deliver highly resilient, scalable, cost-effective, cloud-agnostic deployments.
  • In addition to deep technical leadership, this position requires demonstrated strength in people managementâ€building and developing high-performing teams, coaching and mentoring technologists, setting clear goals, and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • The role typically allocates approximately 50% of time to people leadership and 50% to technical and delivery contributions, with direct leadership of a team of 8+ employees.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Proven track record in technical design and delivery, with strong emphasis on people leadership (hiring, performance management, career development, and team culture)
  • Experience leading teams delivering resilient production services with measurable improvements in reliability, efficiency, and automation
  • Compute/Platform: Cloud Foundry, VMware ESX, Kubernetes, GPUs
  • AI-enabled engineering tools: GitHub Copilot, Claude Code (or similar)
  • Development: Java, Spring Boot, Python
  • Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, CockroachDB, Valkyrie, vector databases
  • Replication: GoldenGate, DMS

  • Observability & Visualization: Grafana, Dynatrace, Databricks, Prometheus, Temporal, Tableau, cloud-native visualization tooling
  • Data Platforms: Hadoop, Spark
  • CI/CD & SDLC Tooling: Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Harness, Jira
